Something has to change. The league should be divided by animal mascots and non-animal mascots. It just makes too much sense.

Animal Division
Iowa Hawkeyes
Maryland Terrapins
Michigan Wolverines
Minnesota Golden Gophers
Northwestern Wildcats
Penn State Nittany Lions
Wisconsin Badgers

People/Nut Division
Illinois Fighting Illini
Indiana Hoosiers
Nebraska Cornhuskers
Michigan State Spartans
Ohio State Buckeyes
Purdue Boilermakers
Rutgers Scarlet Knights

I like the east west division split. Gets rid of michigan from our bracket.

That’s the only other one I’d support.

There was one out there that’s still kind of an East/West thing but the dividing line was drawn at an angle with it tilted a bit higher so your idea happens.

I automatically dislike any proposal that splits up Ohio State and Michigan :Laughing.

Personally, I'd like to see an "Inside" and "Outside" split. Relatively balanced and keeps all major rivalries in tact without any permanent crossover games. Only issue would be travel for the "Outside" division.

Inside: Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State, Indiana, Purdue, Illinois, Northwestern

Outside: Rutgers, Maryland, Penn State, Wisconsin, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska

I believe that this was in consideration when expansion occurred but Penn State was against. it.

Whomever posted the 3 locked rivals suggestion earlier has the right idea. If 14 teams, 3 locked rivals that you play yearly, and you play ever other team in the league twice in every four year period - once home, once away. Every player would then play every school in the league twice and visit each school once in their four-year career. The important rivalries would be preserved. Only works out to 8 conference games with 14 teams, but assuming the league goes to 16 soon, it also works with 3 locked rivals and 6 other games for a total of 9 games. Here's my proposal for the locked rivals:

<
Illinois - Northwestern, Purdue, Ohio State
Indiana - Purdue, Michigan State, Maryland
Iowa - Minnesota , Wisconsin, Nebraska
Maryland - Penn State, Rutgers, Indiana
Michigan - Ohio State , Michigan State, Rutgers
Michigan State - Michigan, Northwestern, Indiana
Minnesota - Wisconsin, Nebraska, Iowa
Nebraska - Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin
Northwestern - Illinois , Michigan State , Purdue
Ohio state - Michigan, Penn State, Illinois
Penn State - Rutgers , Maryland, Ohio State
Purdue - Indiana, Northwestern, Illinois
Rutgers - Penn State, Maryland, Michigan
Wisconsin - Minnesota, Nebraska , Iowa

I know that there are some rivalries I may have missed (not the land grant trophy, that's not real), but it can be tweaked as needed. Top 2 in the standings play in the championship game, even if its a rematch of UM/OSU. I was debating whether Rutgers or Maryland should get Michigan as their 3rd rival as opposed to Indiana. I guess I am an optimist and chose Michigan.

They also managed to pick up the entire state of Michigan and plop it right down on North and South Dakota lol

Even if in different divisions the nuts and car state people can still play each other by agreement

We were in that for 145 years.
dont want those jackasses...believe me! Hopefully Texas politics keeps them cows tied up to other schools who would lose a lot of money of the steers left...big wealthy tcu, tech and baylor politics will not let that happen

I would like to get one Texas school in the Big Ten. A population that just keeps growing and a HUGE recruiting area. I guess we could settle for Texas A&M. lol

maybe the B10 should add a conference semifinal

If the NCAA will not make it official then
- 8 game league schedule
- 9th game will have the top 2 teams in each division in a semifinal
- rest of league will have cross division games based on standings and who has played who already

They would have to play in cold weather. Can’t have that.

Does it get fairly cold in College Station in November? When they used to play Texas Tech, I think it gets fairly cold there. And going back, they used to play Colorado and Nebraska. Would certainly be more common in the Big Ten. Of course, none of this matters since I can’t see any way Texas A&M would ever leave the SEC. Which brings us back to post Longhorn Network,Texas. Hmmm ?

Two divisions. Only games are against teams in your division, winners of each meet in champ game.
- DIvision B1GGER
Ohio State, Rutgers
- Division SM4LLER
Michigan, MSU, PSU, Wisconsin, Nebraska
- DIvision SMALLE$T
Illinois, Iowa State, Northeastern, North Dakota State, whoever else is in this
- Division 1NDEPENDENT
Notre Dame
Texas
Kansas State
UNC
Virginia

A perfect 27-team conference. The winner gets an AQ to the Rose Bowl, the last place gets an AQ to the ESPN Playoff
