AKA, who do we get to not face next year?

Notable Seniors Graduating
Luckily, we'll never have to face the following guys ever again after this season:
  • Ethan Happ
  • Jordan Murphy
  • Jawan Morgan
  • Charles Mathews
  • Ryan Cline and Grady Eifert (lumping these 40%+ 3-point specialists together)
  • CJ Jackson
  • Vic Law
  • Dererk Pardon
  • James Palmer
  • Isaac Copeland
  • Glynn Watson

Underclassmen Who Could Go Pro
These are guys getting mentioned in a lot of (or at least a few) mock drafts:
  • Romeo Langford (almost certainly gone)
  • Jalen Smith
  • Bruno Fernando
  • Ayo Dosunmu
  • Isaiah Roby
  • Carsen Edwards
Annoyingly Good Players Who Will Be Back
These are the underclassmen that are almost definitely going to be a PITA to play next year, by team:
  • Michigan State: Cassius Winston, Nick Ward
  • Michigan: Ignas Brazdeikis, Zavier Simpson, Isaiah Livers, Jordan Poole, Jon Teske
  • Purdue: Matt Haarms, Trevion Williams
  • Maryland: Anthony Cowan, Eric Ayala, Aaron Wiggins
  • Wisconsin: Brad Davison, Nate Reuvers, D'Mitrik Trice
  • Iowa: Their entire team
  • Ohio State: Kaleb Wesson, Luther Muhammad, Kyle Young
  • Minnesota: Amir Coffey, Daniel Oturu, Gabe Kalscheur
  • Illinois: Giorgi Bezhanishvili, Trent Frazier
  • Indiana: Rob Phinisee, I guess?
  • Northwestern: Anthony Gaines
  • Nebraska: Thomas Allen
  • Penn State: Lamar Stevens, Rasir Bolton, Myles Dread

So based on this, I think Rutgers' goal should be 7th-10th in conference. Indiana is going to be the same team as year, just plug in a different 5* guy for Langford (and subtract Morgan). Illinois is adding a 5* big but still has depth issues, although it's a different story if Dosunmu stays. Penn State will have most of their guys back so we'll be in their neighborhood. Northwestern has a couple of decent recruits coming in but honestly it's a giant failure if we don't finish ahead of at least them and Nebraska next season.

Thanks for doing this.

I think there are 9 teams that are clearly going to better than us.

That leaves IU, NW, PSU, and NEB.

I’ll add the 1 team out of the 9 that pulls a Nebraska and gets injuries or others to drop from the ranks.

2020 will be a very important class. Moving up the ladder is real hard....especially when all 13 teams consistently rebuild with good freshman classes.

Also, if I was to divide into tiers, I see three of them.

Title contenders: Mich, Mich St, Iowa
Second tier (all likely to make NCAAs): Maryland, Ohio State, Wisconsin, Purdue
Third tier: The rest

The bottom tier is obviously not all equal. It’s just hard to say where each will land. I would not be surprised if Rutgers finished 8th, but I wouldn’t be surprised (disappointed but not surprised) if we finished 12th. My too early prediction is we finish 9th and any postseason resume will rest on the strength of the conference, our own SOS, and OOC performance.

Hey RU fans. It’s likely that Tyler Cook will bolt for the pros somewhere after this season. If not the NBA, I imagine he will end up in Europe.

Good luck this weekend! Anyone can win on any given day in this league at this point in the season. I know we cannot look past your team regardless of your record. Cheers!

Thanks for putting this together! For the other teams' fans in the league who may be doing the same kind of list I'm guessing under "Annoyingly Good Players Who Will Be Back" for us is: Their entire team except for Doorson but are adding two fantastic guards (incoming Frosh and Transfer)
