The obvious favorites are Jim Phillips and Gene Smith. Tim Pernetti will get a look. He was seriously in the mix for NCAA President and was the Big 12 Commish runner-up.

Who do you want is Pernetti the obvious choice for Rutgers?

Tim Pernetti (Network Sports Executive) was responsible for signing a Big Ten deal before becoming Rutgers Athletics Director. He is a football guy that understands the value of markets and legal aspects including college recruiting rules. Tim is the reason we are in the Big Ten.

Tim deserves it.

Thought commissioner thoroughly botched Covid by pulling RU and Michigan off the court at the last minute. He was so reactive rather than pro active

SportsCenter covered this last night. Warren apparently didn't have such great relations with various ADs. The #2 guy on the last search - the current ACC Commissioner - may be the leading candidate.

Hope Tim doesn’t hold any grudges against RU, if in fact he gets the B10 commish gig.

Thats a very good question. He may for the way he was treated by RU for whole hoops BS that he knew nothing about until it went public.
But everyone at RU that was involved back then are all gone. Barchi is retired, and Hobbs/Holloway are too far after the Mike Rice saga to be relevant towards it.

Warren does deserve credit for pulling in UCLA and USC though.
You mean blame. The only one that benefits from that is Warren because he was trying to impress the NFL with how he could ruthlessly and selfishly maximize revenue at all costs in his campaign to become next NFL Commissioner. It will probably work.

People have been brainwashed into thinking adding those teams is "good" for us or the Big Ten. It's good for Warren's pocketbook. It's not better for Rutgers. It's not better for the other Big Ten teams. There is no benefit to the Big Ten schools other than even more money from TV. I'm not getting any more money in my pocket and my team is not going to have a better chance to win the conference.

No one with connections from Ohio State or Michigan should be eligible for the B1G commish job. One, I don't think they have the interest of the other 12 members in mind. Two, I don't think someone (cough Gene Smith) has the chops to continue moving the B1G forward ahead of the other power conferences. Three, the way power conferences are run, you can't look at the job as a mom & pop operation. You need a business/TV background to understand where this is going.
