I figured since other than one or two Hunter Huss fans and one or two Forestview fans on here, it would be easier to keep this thread going for a little bit until Some bigger games pop up i.e. Huss vs any Cleveland County school or any Cleveland County school playing each other. With that being said I know Burns and Huss will most likely be the game of the week in the conference next week.

But let’s review a few things first...The purple mist gave KM a fight last night...the same purple mist that got destroyed by South Point week earlier. I knew KM wasn’t invincible, but dang guys, after losing to Shelby I figured you Mountaineers would be angry and hungry.

Forestview disappointed me, I figured Crest would win, but 52-7? And that one score came from a second string offensive Crest fumble in the 4th quarter.

Burns, I honestly thought you guys had that game against Ashbrook when it was 21-21. But sounds like the bulldogs just got wore out, plan and simple.

Speaking of Ashbrook, they are currently 4-1 and 2-0 in conference...Greenwave sounds dangerous.

I think definitely at this time the strength of power has changed in the Big South. Currently Huss and Crest have separated themselves from the pack some. KM is next followed by Ashbrook/Stuart Cramer.

Forestview dont have that bad of a D but the problem is that the O cant move or stay on the field to give them a break and they get worn down. KM also had over 100 yards in penalties with Cramer.

I would have to disagree with this. Crest had two running backs at 192 yards and 153 yards respectively. Each scored two TDs. Forestview seemed very young defensively. Some heart but not much fight.

You're also looking at a team like Crest who can fight for a state title. That also goes back to the same thing I said about our D always being on the field and getting worn down. I cant speak for what happened Friday I wasnt there I had a family function.

Forestview up until the Crest game, looked rather competitive to me. Crest is Good, this team definitely has potential to be exceptional. But looking at the scores of Forestviews previous games, I really thought the game would be more challenging. If Forestview plays Burns as hard as the jags played Ashbrook, then that should be a good game.

RealJag, are you saying Forestview is on the same level as Crest and can contend for a state title?

I see 3 from the Big South that have State Championship caliber teams...

Crest/Huss
KM

In that order. Cannot wait for that Crest v. Huss game this year, especially after Crest's meltdown last year. Game in control and then poof...

1. Crest
2. Huss (Underachieved last year. This season, TBD)
3. KM (Still not sure about them.)
4. Ashbrook (Big and athletic but its still Ashbrook)
5. Cramer (Still on the rise. Could challenge for 3-4 spot)
6. Burns (Who knows? Up one week way down the next)
7. Forestview (Very 1 dimensional) Easy to stop
8. NOGA (No clue)

Huss
Crest
Ashbrook
KM
Burns
Cramer
Forestview
NOGA

Huss & Crest are clearly the favorites.. I'm honestly not sold on KM, way too soft a schedule as evidenced by the Shelby game, Ashbrook can just wear a team down. Then theres a pretty decent drop off, but Burns has shown they have potential, just can't do it consistently.. Cramer, FV & NOGA, ehh.... Although NOGA could jump up & bite a few teams (KM, Asbrook, Burns)

I originally thought Ashbrook might be a threat...but after witnessing South Pointe’s complete domination of the Greenwave, I can now see why Ashbrook has been chosen as the homecoming game for Crest. With that being said, Ashbrook usually gives the Chargers a fit.

I wonder if some of that Ashbrook talent is at Huss!! Huss has a similar look to what Ashbrook use to have.

Huss always had big athletic guys all the way back to the 80’s. McCoy has just been able to get the kids to buy into off season training and weight lifting. Also I think the school that might have impacted Huss more than than any other school is Forestview. There were kids in the FV district that lived within WALKING distance of Huss. I believe those lines may have been adjusted some but I am not sure. Ashbrook has been impacted by FV and Stuart Cramer. You almost need to be a aerionautical engineer to understand how Gaston County attendance lines makes sense.

What's the deal with MICS? I know they're a charter school but they seem to have had starting to pick off some kids from area schools, especially Gaston County.

And the multiple private schools.
Gaston county thinks there needs to be a high school at every street corner.
