Just watched. Good show.
#4 The DB competition is gonna be fierce, esp. at CB. Hopefully Safety gets enough competition to let the cream rise. Brown was one of several solid additions. Some highlights of the show
1. Including transfers, this is one big incoming class. Far bigger than was expected going into last season.
2. "Casey Thompson is a better QB for Nebraska than Caleb Williams". That was a bold take. I don't know which one said that, but the others just let it slide. I don't think it's the consensus take.
3. Casey Thompson is the most important player in the class. That was the consensus. No one argued that.
4. Omar Brown will be the starter at CB. I think his commitment was a bit overlooked, but he should be a good one. The hosts of the show were fans.
5. New Punter, new place kicker, new punt returner (Trey Palmer). Claimed our actual coverage teams were pretty decent last year, but our specialists need to improve. Everyone was pretty happy with the punter we got and Palmer as a kick returner. And I think everyone liked Bill Busch as special teams coach.
6. HS kids. Liked the last two we got a lot and the first one (Hausmann).
7. I thought they were a little rough on the CB we got from Mississippi and the DL we got from CA. Mostly they thought the CB was too small to play in the secondary. The DL they thought wouldn't fit an NU because Tuioti left. Figured he's likely to leave too. That seems rough for a kid who hasn't even played a down. I think the Mississippi kid has a chance to be a very good player. Even in the NFL there are still some smaller CBs. If he's tough and athletic he can play, and I think he can. I wouldn't want a secondary full of little backs, but he can certainly find a role.
8. They weren't really impressed with the RB from Minnesota, but praised the kid from LA. They thought the kid from MN was too small. Not sure there's actually a big difference in size between the two. But that Allen kid from LA does look like a heck of a prospect.
9. Mickey Joseph was a huge pick-up. Whipple will be the one calling plays.
