I don't understand how this helps the MAC or the Sunbelt at all. If Coastal Carolina has $15-$20M to spend on a basketball roster it would make a difference but they are not a player for big time recruits because of money not this "pro" rule. It does however help the Big East as many of their schools have money and now a competitive advantage.

I’m just worried the courts will say, well you can play in the BE. It would be a BS ruling but that’s what I fear. I was hoping all the conferences adopted the same rule so it would all be unfair. If that makes sense.

I doubt so now at this point. Can’t a lot of teams have that kind of money and that’s 2 schools out of how many? Plus, not sure on their roster but they might not be able to add anyone either.

Hurley has been vocal against it, and is a purist. He's not touching these dudes out of principal. Slick Rick Pitino, the hookermaster who would sell his own mother for a win, is another story.

The next UK coach over in Providence will too - he's got a former G Leaguer on the team already, Dink Pate. Not sure the rest of the BE is gonna touch, maybe Cooley will.

I do have some sympathy for the high schooler looking for a scholarship. This is really concerning for football since many are simply not ready to compete with 23-24 or older.

There's zero reason for athletes to want to collectively bargain. They have all the leverage. They keep winning every court battle due to judge shopping. They can transfer when they want, now they can come back from the pros, and they can make whatever they want. Why give any of that up for a CBA?

The only way to force a CBA would be for schools to lockout the players in all sports but I'm sure some judge would come up with some rando constitutional right to play sports or something and stop that too.

Also, is this state prepared to let college athletics collectively bargain when other state employees are not allowed to do that? Get ready for a massive political backlash on that.
