Hate to start the day on a serious note but I have a very good friend of mine who is battling the worst battle anyone can ever face....Cancer. There is a benefit for him coming up in mid February. I know this is not the best timing at this point in the basketball season but I was wondering if these guys were still around if I could ask a mighty favor. His cancer is in Stage 4 and has spread to several areas of his body. One thing I would like to do is send him and his wife to a game this year. I would also like to place 2 tickets into the silent auction to raise money to help cover his growing medical expenses. If anyone has any idea if these gentleman are still around please email me at wildcat36524 and if anyone would like to donate to the auction please email me and I will give you the contact info for those who are chairing the event. Thanks in advance.

We are always here. We can help your friend. We want to email your friend and his wife two tickets to the season finale against Vanderbilt for them to use. You will need to email me at [email protected].

- I may check Rupp's Rafters once a year. For whatever reason, I clicked on it today.

You guys are unbelievable. I cannot believe how gracious you are when people are at an all time low. I appreciate what you do and I've never even asked for your help. Good man.

OP,
I was able to get in contact through email with Linda Carmack who works for the UK basketball administrative support. They will be sending some items to donate to the auction. I hope you don't mind that I emailed her. I figured the more people we could get to donate, the more money we could raise for Donald.

Prayers for you and yours.

This is a great thread albeit the subject is awful. Lost my dad to cancer many many years ago but he's in my thoughts every day. You can only hope and pray for some type of good news to stop the cancer and beat it's ***. Every other thread has a number of UK fans calling other posters 'stupid', 'idiot', 'moron' etc. I hope this thread and others like it makes people step back from the ledge a bit and separate a basketball game from the game that really matters. I could use an attitude adjustment myself. Prayers for your friend, family, and everyone going through this type of hell.

Very well said. Some things are just bigger than basketball. Lost my mother in '09. Cancer is one ruthless SOB. I pray I live long enough to see a cure, once and for all.

Prayers for your friend & his wife. My mom is currently fighting terminal cancer in most of her bones and liver. I'm her primary caregiver 24/7 so I know how rough it is. Hope they enjoy their trip to Rupp together. I know I would love a Rupp game road trip just to have a night to relax from the cancer fight.

In my opinion, the friend that has the courage to ask and the person willing to donate their personal tickets are the "great" people. I am neither. We appreciate the kind words.

Thanks for being the guy that puts the right people together. As I said below I know first hand the cancer fight with my mom currently battling cancerand the toll it takes on the patient and their loved ones around them. Anytime you can have a chance to have a moment to relax and get away from it is wonderful.

I challenge everyone to take the "Three Person Challenge". Try to find three people within your circle of friends or family who do not know someone directly or indirectly affected by this horrible disease. I'm not sure its possible.

Lost my MIL to cancer in September, and my Mother will die soon from the same disease.

It's an awful experience for everyone involved.

My thoughts and prayers go out to you.

The actual benefit itself in February 18th in the very small town of Fredericktown, KY. It's about an hour out of Lexington right at the Washington-Nelson County line. There is a page on Facebook which has a lot kore details and other ways that folks can help.

We have the tickets in my email box. Should I send them to his daughter on the Facebook page?

Can you forward to me? I will print them off and place in an envelope and deliver to his wife. Thank you very much. I will let you know the results of the benefit.

Big Blue Nation Cares has given over 1,000 tickets to Rupp and Commonwelath over a ten year period. I would guess 80% of those have been Cats Pause/Illustrated posters or people who knew a poster.

Tickets have been sent.

Always remember Big Blue Nation Cares!
Do you have an address where people can send donations? A month or so ago there was a similar thread on the football forum about the bowl game. I 'googled' and looked around the net for info on BBNC but could only find a couple of articles...one about a guy who was able to go to a game before he passed and a short article about a husband and wife who are involved. If there is an address, please pass on. Thanks.
