Mintz averaged 10 points a game two years ago on a good Creighton team. And he won the 3 point contest by a wide margin last night so he's possibly our best shooter too. I guess long term Askew probably has a higher ceiling so Cal may start and and play him more but Mintz is the better player right now it appears.

yup I agree. I think what is overlooked is the fact that he had redshirted for what seemed like a Minor injury. So he got to practice most of that year. creighton works on shooting much more than we do lol. So he basically played two full years and did decent, then had a whole year of just practicing. Creighton has some really good guards rn. He’s got to spend a ton of time in the gym since his last decent season. And he’s on a much better team. His jobs much easier.

Askew is going to have some trial by fire as a kid who should be a senior in HS starting at PG for Kentucky. Has good athleticism but college is a different game. He’s going to have to learn fast.

Mintz is going to be critical filling in gaps there.

For the 3 point contest, it looked as though a couple of guys just came out of the locker room cold and started shooting. Askew for sure did, he had sweat pants on, came straight out of the tunnel before shooting.Iit had to affect the guys coming in cold. Watch it, not one guy was sweating. Cal pretty much told them, "Go out there for a few minutes, give the fans a few highlights, and take it easy, no rough stuff." I do not think Ware got the memo, dude was out there trying to steal balls, smacking balls out of peoples hands. LOL, dude is intense, but he will struggle, definitely a 3 year guy minimum. And that is just fine by me. Jackson, though ,,,,,,,,

Mintz is your starter, he has to be.

Askew
Mintz
Boston
Jackson
Sarr
how will Ware struggle?

I’m not sure about Ware struggling he should at least get a ton of rebounds. I think Sarr is the biggest player and Jackson can jump out of the gym. However Ware is built like a tank, maybe biggest guy overall... he would be great at banging inside...

Is Ware as good as Dakari Johnson or Isaac Humphries ?? I cannot tell yet, but I love his size and aggressiveness.

If Mintz as a senior is not better than a kid who could still be in HS then he made a bad decision to come to UK

We know Cal’s proclivity regarding playing frosh over better players. Haven’t seen either actually play but what little I’ve seen of Askew in the last two weeks he doesn’t seem to be some freak athlete with an NBA body or skill set.

Should be a great competition between the two but imo Mintz is starting out in the hole. Both will play a lot tho hah

Well for one, lack of strength. two, he is not the greatest athlete, three, he cannot rely on his jumping ability. I love the kid, he has that passion and refusing to lose, but in college it will take time to use that ability, this is not high school. Like I said, he will be a guy who will get there, it will just take a little more time than say Jackson or even a Cam'Ron Fletcher. He is a kid I watched his tape, het gets tired quick, and when he does, he reaches and tries to come over the back for rebounds. Conditioning will be a huge problem with Ware.
