Welp, almost basketball season here on Rafters.
We got clowns bitching about lack of defense in a "scrimmage" where there is only one goal: No one get hurt.
Ole defense is encouraged in this dog and pony show.

Well did not get to see it but I taped it for my 96 year old Mom and I guess I will go to her house and see it in the morning. 
She is a big fan and never misses a game.
She is a big fan and never misses a game.The 3-Pt contest seemed more telling than any of the scrimmages in the Cal era. While I agree I wish the scrimmages were a little more competitive, I'll take a 3 point scrimmage over the more recent years' events.
The ankle incident with KJ is why we saw such a low effort scrimmage.... ya know it ,

In all years past the last 5 or so minutes is usually like that but tonight it was the entirety of the scrimmage but it’s all good... don’t want to get someone injured on a celebratory night

Although during the dunk contest think Johnson put that to rest, his jumping was pretty awesome and saw no grimacing besides where he hit the hand on the rim...
You misunderstand me. I wasn’t saying KJ was still injured. I was saying cal didn’t want the guys going that hard tonight and have another injury.
Just got home a little bit ago. It was a fun show. I enjoyed the cheerleaders (my daughter is a cheerleader so I pay more attention to them then I use to) and the 3 point and dunk contests. The scrimmage was just a bunch of goofing off. I think people were getting bored with it and Cal realized that and shut it down.
As someone mentioned, I would like to see a skills competition to go with the 3 point shooting and dunking. Just eliminate the scrimmage altogether and save it for the Blue/White Game. That would give us a better idea of the player abilities then goofing around at the end.
The only real disappointing thing to me was so many fans showing up late and then leaving early. I was getting tired of having to get up and move out of the row (was near the aisle) to let all the people coming and going get through. Took away some of my enjoyment of being there.
I guess I am one of the only ones who shows up early, doesn't leave my seat, and stays until it is over. I rarely attend games anymore due to being priced out of being able to go and having back issues so it kinda sucks when others aren't very considerate to the people around them. Most of my row emptied out near the start of the scrimmage.

#12 J Baker - is this the guy that was hurt last year and never played? Considered a strong 3-pt shooter?
#23 EJ Montomgery - I don't think he played at all in the Bahamas right? I don't know anything about his game or skills -- he's tall -=- but is he a banger or finesse type?
Reid Travis - doesn't show up on the roster here - is that just because he's a late addition?

Btw—Peyton Siva is also on the team but you can’t see him, he moves too fast
