My hometown and still have family there. Scary stuff. Last I heard, 27 agencies there fighting it.

send it.
its been bone dry on the plains and any rain we get is sucked up by the wind that won't stop blowing.
Preach. I live north of Omaha, and I'm guessing we've had less than 5" of total moisture since last Labor Day. Picked an unfortunate autumn to overseed my acreage. And I know most areas of Nebraska are much worse...

Same here, I just remember stories the old guys would talk about during the dust bowl, the wind just kept blowing one day out of the north the next day out of the south. I’m thinking the wind really hasn’t stopped for a year oh yeah we’ve had a few days even weeks of little winds but back it come. Now we don’t have any subsoil moisture, the farm ponds are either dried out really low pasturing cattle might be pretty sparse. Not looking good for this growing season

Read the story on the OWH site. He was a "volunteer fire chief." God bless him and all the other first responders.
I didn't realize that the head on collision was between 2 fire department vehicles. 😳 that's gotta suck the rest of your life as a/the survivors

A friend of mine said the crosswind, dust and smoke was so bad they couldn't see each other coming. :(

Cambridge has an evacuation and Bartley and Indianola residents are recommended to also evacuate. Looks like a big big fire.

I have a sister in Indianola and a brother in Cambridge. They are all back home now. Sounds like they actually had some rain. Another brother is in Curtis fighting the fires.
