When your two brothers went through Lake Travis High in Austin and have aunts and uncles in Austin, and have been to many games there over the years, you appreciate their program some. But, by no means are they close to my passion for K-State athletics.

Also, Ive rooted for OU since the 80’s (in the oldBig 8 with Switzer) as well because K-State was a doormat in football before Snyder. Again, just an appreciation.

Hence, my interest in the Big 12 and reason for making the initial post - I want it to succeed even with Mizzou’s idiocy back in 2010/2011 causing 3 original 8 members to bolt. Nothing touched the Big 12 in football (the SEC was still good then too, but has really come on even stronger in the last 9-10 years) from the 90’s and into the 2000’s and want to see it get back to those standards. I think it’s getting a lot better as we speak (OU and Texas recruiting, Texas finally getting their man in Herman, OU holding down the fort in the playoff, TCU/Pokes/WVU/KState forming a solid 2nd tier below the 2 blue bloods) and will continue, but not sure a 10 team P5 conference will make it past 2025. That’s why the Big 8 made a move, because other conferences were going to 10-12 teams in the early 90’s, among a few other reasons including the fall of the CFA.

They have 4 natties since 1963. Tied with ND and 3 more than Michigan. They’re still a powerhouse with the right coach, and only fellow blue bloods can claim that feat. You take Dabo out of Clemson or Petersen out of U Dub, they’re bankrupt.

Also, Texas 2006 was the greatest CFB team of this century - maybe of all time.
