BIG 10 Tourny Tickets Help

Interested in seeing RU play in the BIG10 tourny this year and catching some other games as well. I missed the boat on buying tix through RU and unfamiliar with how tix work for these tournaments. Few questions for the board:

1) What's the best strategy to buy tickets? It looks like bottom 4 teams play on the first day so I should wait until seeding is announced to plan for which day RU will play on?

2) Am I stuck buying tickets on a daily basis if RU were to make a little run in the tournament? For instance, i have to wait until we win a game to buy tickets for the next game? Otherwise I might have tickets for a session that RU didn't make.

3) If I made the deadline to buy through RU, how does that work....it looks like the seat was for the whole tournament. If we get knocked out would I have gotten reimbursed for the games they didn't play or are you stuck watching/paying for every game.

Any other tips are welcome.

If you only want to see RU play you’ll have to wait. Unless we finish 10th or higher, RU will be playing the first day.

The answer to No. 3 is no you wouldn’t get reimbursed if you bought through RU. The ticket package is for all 5 days - 13 games in 7 separate sessions.

Tickets for the Wednesday doubleheader will be cheap and plentiful and get increasingly expensive each day on the secondary market through the semis on Saturday. The final will be a bit cheaper than the semis.

Night sessions Thursday and Friday are generally more expensive than their afternoon counterparts.

Single session tickets through Ticketmaster haven’t gone on sale yet. Everything being sold right now is through the secondary market except for a handful of all-session tickets in the nosebleed sections

So sounds like you're better off not buying the package unless your team has a good shot of making a deep run.

Do you know if single sessions go on sale prior to or post seeding?

Honestly unless we make a real run it will probably be easy to get tickets cheaply for the first couple of rounds if you're just looking to see us.

Thanks for replying. I was also wondering and will be in attendance as well ! Sounds like it’s either stub hub a few days before or walk up the day of ? And then probably walk up the day of every day after that ? Will gladly pay a steeper price for each round RU advances!

I did see that, but after the feedback from this thread I won't be going that route.

Thought you might get reimbursed for the games your team didn't advance to.

Best option is to scalp. Cheapest too. I did this at MSG a few years ago when UConn was playing MSU in the Elite 8 of the NCAA's. Talked down the broker and got 3 seats for $50 each, and they were good tix. Not really a bad seat in the house at MSG since the renovation.

Side note for scalping....if you go to a night session with Rutgers as the 2nd game, you can get likely get the price down if you go in after the first game has started (unless u want to see both games).
You can also consider going to team hotels after they lose if you're interested in buying later rounds for cheaper (even if it's not RU)---many of them will want to go home once their school is out of it.

Plenty of regular people (not ticket scalpers) unloading their own tickets. Not always scalpers. Believe it or not, lots of retirees buy tournament tickets, but even they can not or do not want to attend every session of the tournament. Also, people unload ticket packages after their team is eliminated. No need to go through the commercial ticket re-sellers, either.
