Based on early season games, the 2 biggest factors for Nebraska in the B1G will be PG play by Verge and ability to defend the 3s. They can overcome spotty / below average PG play against most of their non-conference opponents, but that ain't happening in the B1G. Verge has the ability to penetrate and make some plays but it doesn't seem like the rest of the team are able to feed off of that (this is sacrilegious, but they should watch film on Creighton). I do like how the last few games the Huskers have done more back cuts to the basket. Our big guys aren't as strong as most other B1G teams but if they can defend the 3 better that can help offset the inside game.
we are going to get absolutely man handled in the B1G. this is going to be a very long winter. again.
The Huskers REAL season starts tonight. We're about to find out if struggling to put away the likes of Southern, TN State and South Dakota is a harbinger of doom. I'm worried as I thought we'd be significantly improved from last season, but so far it looks scarily similar. A win tonight would be a great sign!
From the games I’ve seen two of the biggest weakness is not enough big men to defend down low when being attached, and offensively too many quick one and done shots without anyone in rebounding position..
Walker and Andre are the only two players we can count on down low.
We need to win 11 more games to get to the NIT. I dont see us beating NC State or Auburn. I think we beat Kennesaw and K State is a toss up. So we need to go about .500 in conference to make it to the NIT. Which should be this team's goal quite honestly with how young we are. I will be tough sledding. Other than Northwestern, Minnesota, and Penn State I dont see a whole lot of other squads we match up with.
If we go .500 in conference you’d be on the bubble for the NCAA tournament depending what teams you would beat..
