All split evenly - winning doesn’t matter

Rutgers and Nebraska will get the same piece of the pie as OSU and Michigan

they need to go to tiered payouts

Why? It’s a fact that Nebraska draws big viewership numbers. Let’s run your tiers by who draws the most eyeballs.

Some of those eyeballs are made available because Rutgers secured New York and New Jersey for the BTN. Same for Maryland securing Maryland and DC markets.

Outside of maybe Ohio St game in 2019, we had really no marquee games during that time frame. Don’t see anyone else on that list that hasn’t made a bowl game.

we start winning those numbers will increase. America loves a comeback. And honestly I think our viewership numbers last season were much better than above

In a related story, YouTube TV, Hulu, and Sling announce pricing changes to $380/month, up slightly from $64.99

Absolutely wrong. Next to nobody in New York or DC cares about college football. I lived in DC for three years. Very few Maryland football fans in the area. IMO, it was a mistake to add those teams thinking that they would bring along more eyeballs. They don't.

The population of the northeast is about 55 million. The population of Nebraska is 2 million. If only 3.5% of the northeast is interested in college football that equals the entire population of Nebraska. It’s about absolute #s.

5% of 50 million is more valuable than 100% of 2 million

This kicks ***.

Imagine all the buyouts we will be able to afford -- simultaneously -- in men's athletics in the future.

Then why aren’t they in the top 25 above, when Nebraska and Iowa are.

You think the only people that like Nebraska live in the state? 😂

I’d say there’s more Nebraska fans outside of Nebraska then inside Nebraska. As you stated, it’s about #’s. And if you are just looking at local population you are looking through the wrong end of a telescope

why are the packers a bigger drawl then the chargers with your logic?

Or if you want to stick with college, Notre Dame vs UCLA

Not true at all. LOTS of football fans in the DMV area and a ton of fans of other BIG teams. They don’t care about Maryland football but they care about their team.

Yes it is true. Those people you reference were already watching Big 10 games before Maryland and Rutgers were added. Maryland and Rutgers brought in very few new viewers

7th out of 14? Great, thanks for proving my point that our viewership is far better than our performance. Isn't performance what your original post seemed to insinuate should be the basis for a tiered payout? In any event, I'm taking your posts on this thread as unequivocal proof that you're Jlb. No one loved to research some stats more than that guy. Regardless, your original post is dumb and the payouts should stay evenly split as they are now.

No one cares about how many viewers they have. What matters is that the Big ten Network is carried on Cable systems that have tens of millions of subscribers. A tiny slice of a very big pie is still a nice chunk of change

Iowa draws more eyeballs than Nebraska? Wow, I never would have guessed that in a million years.

I guess “next to nobody in NY and DC cares about college football” except for all the people who do care about college football.🙄

I think the point is though that the B1G gets included in those cable TV subscriptions if you get the sports package so whether or not people actually tune in to the games might be irrelevant. I do think that Maryland basketball has a fairly large following. There's probably as many Penn State fans in the New York or DC area as there are Rutgers fans as well.

Nice, now close to $86 million per year per school including BIG network and the new TV pay. Indiana and Purdue making more than Notre Dame now. lol

Just saw on twitter that NBC is going to make a run at us as well. Of course, some of that would be on Peacock- great free service but I don't want to pay for another streaming service. Hopefully it all stays on standard cable channels. I already subscribe to BTN+ to see a lot of stuff. Regardless, you're going to see some coaches with bigger contracts and buyouts, and more facilities upgrades.

Notre Dame has an endowment in excess of $20B, without public funds. A tv football contract has very little impact on its financial condition. In addition, ND has about 20% of the enrollment of B1G schools like OSU, UM, and PSU, therefore a much smaller campus and faculty to provide for. The comparable B1G school is Northwestern, all other B1G schools are at least 2.5 times larger than ND, with much higher operating expenses.

Wow, never mind, ND has a massive endowment, but that needs to support their whole university system. Still that's a ton, especially since they don't pay taxes as a non-profit.
