This is right on the mark. The points about how you can't have democracy if you're not allowed to have a free discussion about the electoral process. The points about free speech. The points about how when you say something they don't like they don't try to prove you wrong, instead they just shout "SHUT UP!!!" The points about how the people with all the power use their power to pretend that the people without power are threatening our democracy when by definition people without power can't threaten democracy. "In the name of defending democracy we took away the things we need to have democracy." Exactly.
I don't know that I've really changed that much. As I've said on here before, I've been registered Independent my entire life. I may have been perceived as a Lefty on here in the past, and maybe I was Left on some issues but I was far from a flat out Lefty.
I haven't changed but the modern Left has, and for the worse. It's not even a matter of specific issues. It's the fundamentals, kinda like TC talked about in that video. Free speech is everything. Without it nothing else matters, especially in the long run.
There was an expression people used to say that went "I may disagree with what you say but I'll defend to the death your right to say it." That was associated more with the Left than the Riight. Now it's completely flipped. The Left is flat out against free speech. And they've become authoritarian bullies. And they use institutions to enforce their bullying, which is scary because they have control of most of the institutions. I completely distrust most institutions at this point.
I've never voted GOP for POTUS but if the state I'm in looks to be close in 2024, I'm voting GOP for POTUS no matter who it is just as an effort to keep the Democrats out. And that goes even if the GOP candidate is Trump.
There was a time when I thought Trump was so much worse than the Dem that I voted for the Dem (2016). Then it got to the point where I thought Trump was as bad as but not worse than the Dem, so I voted 3rd party (2020). Now I'm at the point where I think the Dems are so much worse than Trump that I'm voting for Trump if it comes to that. And it's not because Trump has gotten better from 2016 to 2020 to 2024. It's because the Left has gotten drastically worse.
I saw a video of Paula Scanlon on Youtube recently. She was on the Penn women's swim team when Penn let Lia Thomas start swimming with the women. She told how Penn told the women swimmers that if they spoke out against Lia Thomas being allowed to swim, "you will regret it." How does an Ivy League school threaten its students over what they might say? And when they do, why is it not national news on every big media outlet? Even if you're in favor of letting Lia Thomas swim with the women, you should be outraged over a threat like that. But we get nothing from the MSM.
There was a worldwide pandemic starting in 2020 and all the major media and government officials said it definitely came from a wet market and not a lab. That was a giant outright lie. And I don't mean because subsequent investigation reveals it likely came from a lab. Even if subsequent investigation revealed it did come from a wet market, it was still a lie to say early on that it definitely came from a wet market when they KNEW THAT THEY DIDN'T KNOW THAT IT CAME FROM A WET MARKET! And trillion dollar tech companies reinforced and supported the lie by banning people that suggested otherwise. The freaking FBI was literally consulting with Facebook and Twitter on what to bad.
This is madness. This isn't a disagreement on policy issues, it's the erosion of bedrock rights like the freedom of expression.
I wish bleaters would watch this.

BTW, when I say I'm going to vote GOP for POTUS for 2024, that's assuming The Dem candidate is Biden or some other equivalent. RFK Jr is a Democrat and I think he's somewhat nutty on some things but I also thing he speaks truth on other important issues that Big Media and the US Gov't don't want highlighted, such as how those in power botched the pandemic. If somehow he would get the nomination then I'd definitely consider voting for him. But he won't get the nomination because Big Media is so against him.
There was this thing recently where he said things that were supposedly anti-Semitic and anti-Chinese. Of course, the whole story as reported in the media is "RFK Jr said anti-Semitic and anti-Chinese things, thus he's bad." Go to the trouble of looking into the specifics. I did. It's complete nonsense. You can agree or disagree with RFK Jr's views on the issue but in no way was he said anything resembling bigotry. It's the same playbook. "We're Big Media so what we say is Truth so we'll say RFK Jr is a bigot and you'll believe it and as a result he'll be banished." They simply do not get that this only causes people to chip away further at the mistrust they have in Big Media.
It won't be Democrats who stop RFK Jr, it will be big pharma .not sure who is deeper in bed with them Republicans or democrats.
