I think the team from 2020 was the best
That team was so hot and very compete wish we could’ve seen them in tournament play.

Tough call which team is best. If you put a sophomore cliff on either of the 2020 or 2021 teams…

This was his best starting-5 ever, that I’m certain of. However if you include the bench as “team”, sadly it probably wasn’t. That’s why the highs were so high and they had bad lows too. In the end, it ended up right in the middle, 2 ties and then a buzzer-beater loss

This team has higher ceiling but that team played so well together

I just think they were most consistent and hotter coming into the tourney. That Maryland game was beautiful and they had another huge win over Illinois a fews weeks before and then the big win at Purdue. So they struggled a bit especially on the road but felt the difference is they had the hunger, they were not scared. I think this particular team was not playing hungry all the time, I think they fell into the habit they could lock in and win games late, it worked out for them sometimes, but other times such as tonight you play with fire. Last years team was somewhat funky. JY added something to this team that they dont have. RU might be better coached this year but I would still go with 2020

I think it probably was potentially. Certainly for a month it clearly was. That’s what he saw. In March destiny is made on chance. You need luck. It wasn’t with us tonight.

Don’t think so.
Stop this ****. If we pulled this game out and then beat Alabama, you wouldn't put this crap up. Yes, we did not play very good defense last night. Yes, the Paul inbound was inexcusable, but this team was still poised to pull it out. It didn't happen. It sucks, but you don't have to rub it in. We're all hurting right now.

Yup. Weve flat lined but people for whatever reason are afraid to acknowledge it. Reality is metrics says weve regressed but ill contend we flat lined

Just shut it pal. You don't know **** about basketball. And you've proven that time and time again here and have made a total *** of yourself. It's as if you wanted them to lose so you could save face for all of the stupid **** you've posted during the year.

Wow, do you understand that Pike, while certainly not the greatest coach in the world, was playing like a Parcells or Belichick from the beginning of the season in that he knew he had enough good to some potentially great players in Geo, Harper, Cliff, and Paul, that he said this in the hopes that these players would step up and do what experienced players should do but our players just didn't do; that's the deal. I mean, holy ****, that's all there is to it. I love Pike, but, at the end of the day, the players have to make plays, and they didn't. Harper should have touched the ball the last 15-20 times down the floor, and he may have touched it twice; that's why we lost. Do no blame Pike; players need to make plays, and they didn't. You could rightfully blame that on Pike, but come on, Geo and Paul are at fault for this; in my mind, call a spade a spade....

Ron and Cliff go wayyy too many possessions without touching the ball. Why isn't Ron ever running a pick n roll with Ron? Ron is dominate going hard to his rand hand

I don't know why he said it. It could have been this, or he could have simply been wrong. Maybe the team played in practice the way they played during the 4 game ranked win streak and he was simply fooled into thinking they were a bit better than they were. Or maybe you're right and it was part of a motivational tactic. Or maybe he was just feeling particularly exuberant that day.

What I never understood was why this made people so mad. He was wrong, so what?

Absolutely. Except for a few good games from Reiber, this team really has no bench. This team gets most entertaining due to some late game heroics…mostly from Harper..but also probably more frustrating, even over last yeast’s team.

It’s obvious why he said it — he believed it. Pike has always let his alphas take control and if you have Geo and Ron back, Caleb ready to lock in, and an improved Cliff and Paul, it’s not a stretch to say this is my best team. Of course, there’s our bench which is what Pike failed to fully appreciate. It wasn’t nearly good enough.

He also seemed very high on Agee at the time when he said Cliff, along with Agee, were clearly their best two big men. We all know how that worked out. Not only was Reiber much better, but Agee took Doucoure’s spot on the bench.

Pike is doing a great job at RU. These last 3 teams all have been very good. This season might be the best of these last three but they all were pretty close as I see it.

However the 75-76 team was the best team by far of any Rutgers team. They were 31-0 before losing a game and made it to the Final Four. Sellers, Bailey, Jordan and Copeland all played in the NBA and Dabney was the last cut I believe by the Celtics. They averaged I think 93 points a game and were one team in a lifetime. I think Steve Pikiell though just might become our greatest coach for RU basketball ever. He is such a wonderful coach and guy and he gets it. End of story.
