What’s the criteria? Longevity?
Because Brad Banks had one season, but he was the Heisman runner-up. And I would take him over Stanzi. In fact, I would take Drew Tate over Stanzi.
And was this before 2025? Because clearly Mendoza is the best IU has ever had. But if the criteria is to have played more than one season, I guess that’s a horse of a different color.
Banks and Tate won conference titles, but no “BCS” bowl. Stanzi no conference titles (would have most likely won it 2009 if hadn’t gotten injured), but won Orange Bowl. CJ won division title and whisker away from getting us to CFP, but no major bowl win.

Correct, and the people who did this need to update it with Mendoza and allow the GOAT Tom Brady to be the Mich QB as he played very damn close to late 1999 or even in a college bowl game in 2000.
You cant cut Brady out by one year.
And for PSU I think the two guys below were better than Allar as far as success.

- Daryll Clark (2008-2009): Led the Nittany Lions to major success, including a Rose Bowl appearance.
I think Stanzi's longevity etc number of wins puts him a touch ahead of Banks. Banks had two big losses in 2002 but he also was great and dynamic for that year. Stanzi had some losses but the last 7 games of 2008 and the whole 2009 season were awesome.
He was very good in 2010 as his INT numbers went way down and he had about 25 TD passes but the record wasnt there because of some defensive injuries.
Having someone other than Randle El for the top spot at Indiana before Mendoza this season is absolute bonkers. Randle El was probably the best college player I’ve seen in person. Chicago Tribune Silver Football winner on a team that went 4-4 in the Big Ten and a losing record overall.
For Iowa. Stanzi is probably the fourth best QB during this time period. Tate, Banks, and Beathard were all QBs I’d take over him. Stanzi did have some intangibles when the game was on the line though.

Lists like this are fine to have fun with, but they're always flawed and impossible--in all but the most rare cases--to achieve much consensus. So many factors are involved. Even though Banks only started one year, he was the Heisman runner-up. That's pretty tough to beat. Personally, I always loved CJ Beathard, who often played hurt. But Stanzi was exciting and effective, as was Drew Tate. Those guys were all outstanding Iowa QBs, not to mention Nate Stanley who had some of the best and some of the worst QB performances of the last 25 years.
???? I think its best of each school IN COLLEGE. Brady had a HOF career in the league, obviously, BUT he was hardly a great college QB. He shared duties with Drew Henson for part of his time.
This list should wait a bit so you have players who have actually played in the conference the list is claiming.
ironically if the 2025 iowa defense had managed to make 1 extra play each against indiana and oregon, gronowski would almost certainly be the iowa guy
