Saw a discussion on reddit about teams best ‘one game wonders’ and couldn’t remember any Huskers that had one crazy game and then disappeared (outside of spring games that is).

Does anybody come to mind?

I know he had more than one game, but for ONE game I thought Deangelo Evans would end up the best RB in Nebraska football history. Washington game?

This will be an interesting discussion. I'll throw out Ron Kellogg III.

Didn't he have a good game against Penn St?

He may have, I can’t remember. In the A&M game, I don’t remember him having to do a lot of shake and bake, mainly b/c Lord ran the option well that day and was pitching to Horne in a ton of space.

Matt Turman's first half start against K-State in '94. Wasn't exactly a wonder, but he didn't screw up, which was what he needed to do, and helped NU get an important road win on route to TO's first MNC.

Good thing we're not including Husker opponents in this, I don't think there's enough bandwidth to list all of the guys who have had career games against Nebraska.

Weren't Corey Mceown and Bo Rudd like really good for a couple of games and then started getting run over by running backs?

Frantz Hardy - 159 receiving yards against Kansas in '06. Ranks 7th all-time at NU for a single game. Total that game was half his receiving yards for the entire season - 317.

I don't think there'd be enough bandwidth to cover just the opposing kickers who have had career games against NU.

I thought he found a small crease better than any backs we've had. He put on a lot of weight, lost a lot of quickness, and had the unfortunate event in the locker room vs. Markovicka.

If he had kept his head on straight, not injured his back in the locker room, not put on so much weight, he could have been a great college back. Lots of woulda's/coulda's/shoulda's in my analysis.

It took both Bahr brothers, and the FSU kicker to almost defeat NU by themselves to convince TO to get a scholarship kicker, Chris Drennan.

He was really good compared to the Kevin Seibel's of the world.

Of course, the Brown's, Henery, just a few of the great kickers NU had.
Now, we're tweaking them just over the crossbar from 18 yards out.

Or just flat out missing 30 yarders that should be gimmes in DI football.

Switzer made a believer out of me about playing great defense, not taking chances on offense, waiting for the other team to make a mistake, then the losses to PSU and FSU with the great kickers.

It took TO several really tough, close losses to commit to the understanding of the importance of those game elements, but led the way to the greatness of the program.

(Wish he had committed lot earlier, he may have had 5,6,7 Natty's).

Without checking actual game results, had Frost had a kicker the caliber of any I mentioned earlier, SF may have won another half dozen games or so.

There are few things in football that match that dude who can drill that 45 yarder at 90% or so. It's the little difference that makes the big difference.

Seriously? All MT did was hand the ball off to LP. A wonder?

Tim McCrady in the 1980 Sun Bowl. He had 2 receptions for 107 yards and 1 TD. Nebraska had 159 total yards passing for the day.

Dean Sukup and Mike Coyle we're quality kickers pre-Drennan
