Trick question. Oktoberfest beer sucks. This coming from a guy who likes German beer.

The best I ever had was made by Augustiner in their tent at Oktoberfest in Munich. So good. We were threatened with removal because one of my buddies chugged his (like we saw many others do). We got told by a large dude working security that chugging is not allowed because their beer was meant to be enjoyed. We attended three different tents over ten days so we were wrecked by the plane ride home. The Paulaner tent was WILD. Surrounded by hot Serbian girls. I should have smuggled one of them home. Another highlight of the trip was listening to a live polka band while drinking beers at Hofbrauhaus. It was a pretty epic trip. Do it if you have the chance.

HA! I did get kicked out out of the Augustiner tent. a couple of local patrons got me a little riled up and my message board tough guy came out and I threatened to kick both of their asses after about 6 or 7 liters. They laughed and told me I was about to leave while looking behind me. I turned around and 2 giant humans escorted me out of the tent. Great fun though. At the end of the night, stumbling away after finishing ceremony, I heard, in English, hey you're Joe, you were on our walking tour. Long story less long, one of the girls in that group is still with me 7 years later and we have a 4 year old. Love me an Augustiner Pils.

Your video reminded me of while we were in Munich. I am not making any of this up. We went to an Irish bar to go watch the Rugby World Cup(?). The place was filled with legit New Zealanders because they were playing that night. The whole bar screamed out the haka thing along with the team on tv. After the victory, karaoke began and a bar full of Germans/Americans/New Zealanders and who know what else sang in unison to Keith Whitley's "When You Say Nothing At All". It was pretty damn awesome.

I will be in Munich one month from today. Will be getting out before Oktoberfest. Hope to have some good beers. Not a Pils or Lager fan though.

You know it starts like September 15th, right?

Locally, Divots makes a good one. Kinkaider makes a good one as well.

It’s Ayinger. By far the best. Spaten also good. And Oktoberfest is very different than pumpkin ales.

Will be in Munich Sept 9-11. Then we head to Stuttgart for a few days, then Paris and finally London.
