Berger made a TERRIBLE decision

Had he chosen Ohio State, I would have understood. But going to Wisconsin, where they run between the tackles like 90% of the time makes zero sense. Unless the plan is to bulk him up, which will cause him to lose some of his speed. A real head scratcher.

He's going to a place that has churned out RBs into the NFL in recent years (especially from his home state) -- easy to see how he came up with his decision.

he doesn’t fit the physical profile of those Wisconsin RBs who made it to the NFL. Now he could bulk up, but not sure how effective he’ll be after doing so.

Don’t fret big guy Berger will probably run for 100+ against his home state team when they meet... it’s all about what’s upfront ... and after watching Wisconsin’s line the past 5 years I don’t see them not giving a “ bulked” up Berger a chance to make some yards... we didn’t get him and the reason is in Texas now as OC...the guy did not have a clue... let’s see what Greg can do part II in recruiting to see if Berger was a B1G loss.

Last time I checked, Melvin Gordon, James White and Corey Clement were not big, bruising backs. Thread doesn't really make sense.

Watch Bergers tape, he NEVER runs inside the tackles, everything is outside, Bosco used Monangai inside the tackles. Berger will be as a 'slot' type, back. Could Berger adapt? Sure. He has excellent hands, i think he will be successful as a Slot or even WR, not a Jon Taylor type RB. Heck, NFL values the WRs more anyway.

Baloney. Gordon and Clement were well above 200 lbs at the combine. As abro pointed out, Berger just isn’t a between the tackles runner, which is why Wisconsin is a terrible fit for him.

At the combine? You know Berger is in high school, right? In HS, Gordon was listed at 190lbs and White 195lbs. Berger listed at 205lbs.

you know Berger didn't run between the tackles in high school, right? This is why hes not a good fit for Wisconsins offense. He's 185 pounds according to 247sports and 200 pounds according to rivals.

the Plainfield RB Anthony Davis was not a big dude either and he put up crazy numbers there. Berger made his choice, and I'm sure he'll do fine there. If not, we'll be seeing him transfer here in a couple of years.

The skinny is once the Berger is being grilled, you don't flip it. I'm sure he knows this and is happy with Wisky. He will probably have a nice career and maybe NFL time.

Just for shats and giggles rutgersal ...how big was Ray Rice when he committed to RU? ... I remember the very first time meeting Ray... all 5’6” to maybe 5’8” and about 187 lbs as a frosh and by summer about 190 lbs ...by soph year he was about 198 lbs. by his junior year he was 203-205 lbs but most was in his lower body... by the time he was in the NFL 210-212 lbs and was a ball of muscle... Kyle Monangi does have more of a Ray Rice build... if he performs anywhere near that level we will all forget about Berger...It’s all about the O line and ours is very suspect in year one of Greg’s return.

Here is the 247 profile that lists Berger at 6'0" 205lbs. Have no idea what you're looking at. Look, we're all RU homers on this board, but let's not make crap up just to tarnish a kid. Wisky probably has developed more RBs of different sizes and skills than any other college program. Gordon, White, Clement, Taylor are all different types of RBs that have come through that program in recent years. Talent is talent.

rutgersal loves to talk and be the Rutger’s centerpiece... probably a good guy but sometimes attempts to make excuses for kids who played at other schools from NJ... I’m all for hyping RU guys and gals but let it be valid...we look silly here simply because of their record developing Jersey talent in Wisconsin... get the Oline guys like Wisconsin and we’ll compete and beat top B1G teams... pretty certain that is an important Schiano goal this time as it was back in his first stint.

And by his sophomore year he won't be in the 205-210 range? Most these kids bulk up 15-20 lbs in their first 2 years in college S&C programs. This thread is embarrassing.

Most backs run outside in high school simply because they are the fastest guys on the field. If you are a high school OC with a guy who runs a 4.5 40 are you going to try and pound him up the middle or get him to the edge? That the toughest habit to break for college coaches. Guys are so used to simply being able to out run everyone.
