I might be the only one who noticed in his video with Sautter. But it’s painfully clear that without Matt Rhule (and Tony White and Evan Cooper) Caleb Benning ain’t coming here. Can’t wait to see him roam the field in the secondary.

He was being recruited most as a safety.

This staff seems to like trying athletes out at multiple positions though, suspect that will be the case with Benning

Hahaha this was my reaction too. May be it's my own "living in the 90s" arrogance, but I've kind of always viewed Benning as pretty much a "duh" recruit. Like, seriously, where else was he gonna go?

Love this on many levels. It seems like it took some real recruiting chops to secure his commitment. Best playmaker in the state. And a 3-star that won't raise the recruiting rankings a bunch but from what I can tell the kid plays like a pure 4-star on the field.

He was being seriously recruited (with committable offers) by Wisconsin, Iowa and Kansas State.

This was not a slam dunk until Rhule arrived in Lincoln.
