He was adamant that had the shortstop not touched the ball it was on line to home plate. It wasn't... it was clearly thrown to the cutoff man and would been well up the line if it went through.

Now... Had the cutoff caught it cleanly and thrown to home Gatlin Sanders would've been a dead duck.

That was definitely aggressive running. He hesitated a little as the ball came through, but the real problem was that it was absolutely scorched and got to the OFer really quickly.

We forced them to make a play and they failed.

It shouldn't go unnoticed that Frei really ran the bases well in that rally. Got himself to third on that mishandled throw and then positioned himself inside the line coming home to hinder the throw home from the 3rd baseman. Ended up being the winning run.

Nice job by Bevis fisting a tough pitch down the line to get Frei in as well.

I agree. That ball isn’t close to the SS to deflect if the OF had been going home. And yeah, if the SS makes a clean catch & good throw, he’s out. Not good when you come in to pinch run, then hesitate on that hit. We got a bit lucky. But like She Mate Me said, we forced them to make a play.
