I can't stand sh*t talkers. Rutgers could be 12-0 and they have posters and fans who will stoop to Syracuse level to knock us. There's one poster named auger who is on the level of Syracuse's poster brees and texmex. The a-holes of a-holes. It's one thing to mock us but it's another to flatout show no respect. Wins aren't guarantee on paper, so don't pretend Iowa can't lose.

Not sure who you are talking about, but every tribe has jerks. Anyway, if you want to ask any questions of a Hawkeye fan, I'll be here all week. :) Both teams had solid wins week 1. Our starting left tackle hurt his leg, so Iowa will likely be shuffling their line all this week looking for the best combo. Interestingly, we took our freak right tackle (Wirfs) and shifted him to left tackle. Our right guard moved to right tackle, and a true freshman came in at right guard (Justin Britt). Miami of Ohio double and triple teamed our stud DE Epenesa all game, so his stats didn't reflect the impact he had on the opponent (1 assisted tackle was all he had).

What are your strengths? Best offensive weapon? Biggest weaknesses?

We have no strengths, no offensive weapons. Everything is our weakness. You should buy your team a tractor trailer full of kegs and encourage them to get wasted before the game.

Iowa's two year starter at LT injured his knee, early against Miami University. The Hawkeyes RT, who is equally, as good, moved over. Both are juniors and highly regarded. Wirfs started for Jackson in the 2017 Pinstripe Bowl that Iowa won 27-20 over Boston College.

We all know, the only game Iowa and Rutgers has ever played, was a 14-7 win to open the 2016 Big Ten season for Iowa.

Iowa also played Miami in 2016, in the season opener. Won 45-21 that year. On Saturday night, 38-14.

QB Nate Stanley played a solid game. Iowa O-Line was strong in opener. As was Rutgers, in scoring 41 unanswered points against UMass.

Kinnick Stadium is a great venue. Should be a good Week 2 game.

New Jersey prep and Iowa junior WR #6 Smith-Marsette scored one of Iowa's 5 TDs in win over Miami University on Saturday.
Playing his home state school should be interesting on Saturday

Key to Iowa-Rutgers game

Iowa rushed for 213 yards and averaged 5.2 yards per carry. Now, it’s a one game sample, but it’s a marked improvement from last season when Iowa averaged 148 yards per game and just under four yards per carry. - Tom Kakert of Rivals Network

In 2016, Iowa's offense only amazed 355 yards of total offense in Week 4 at Rutgers.

Rushing the football they ran for 193 yards and 5.1 yards per carry. Iowa is deeper at RB in 2019. More experience, as well.

Rutgers sacked C.J. Beathard 4 times in the 14-7 Iowa win in 2016. During the 2016 season, Iowa gave up 28 sacks. In 2018, Iowa gave up only 16, including 3 to Mississippi State, who the Hawkeyes were able to beat 27-22 in the Outback Bowl.

Rutgers ran for 193 yards against Iowa in 2016. Miami University had 158 yards in the 2016 opener. Iowa held RedHawks to 58 yards and 2.4 yards per carry this time around at Kinnick.

Iowa's run defense has improved over past two plus seasons. Iowa's pass protection has improved, as well.

What will Rutgers do on Saturday via run and pass?

Miami University plays Big Ten teams regularly. Lost 28-3 in Week 3 last year at Minnesota. Former Notre Dame assistant Chuck Martin was 6-2 last year in the MAC.

The cradle of coaches team will likely be salty in the MAC again, if they can whether the preseason of Cincinnati and Ohio State ahead.

Dude...they live in IOWA. Have you been there? It's better than Alabama for sure....but still.

I mean how much more can people say that hasn't already been said? Ha ha...What's a Rutgers...Rutgers is a joke...they don't belong in the big ten...blah blah. The other night I searched for Rutgers on twitter and there were more posts about the Tennesse game (being compared to Rutgers because they lost to a lousy team) than there were about our game. People are angry at the world and they want to believe they are superior at just one thing. If posting a few clichés about Rutgers helps them blow off steam and reduces the chance they shoot up the local municipal building, I say go ahead.

Iowa for some reason has the biggest RU haters in the B1G besides maybe Northwestern ... I was indifferent about Iowa when we joined (they are the team I always forget when trying to name all the big ten schools) but now I hate their stupid fan base which thinks going 8-5 for 10 years in a row entitles them to something. I loved stomping their butts on senior day in b-ball, too bad then had to end Grants season to beat us in football last time, I hope we leave their fans looking like the Tennessee fans after next Saturday

Hi Scarlet Night fans,

Stopped by to see what some of you thought of the upcoming game. In reading some of the post it seems as though a few of your fans thinks Rutgers is hated by the Iowa Fan base. I can tell you that is simply not the case. Yes, there were many fans who were pissed when your BB team came in last year and ***** slapped us on Sr day.....but I also know many Rutgers fans were pissed when Joe hit the lucky bank shot to beat you earlier in the year. Normally, there is simply no reason for our fan base to think about Rutgers in a bad way unless we play them. We save our real hate for teams like Iowa St, Minn and Wisconsin. :)

Lets hope there are no injuries next week, and good luck the rest of the year!

Our two lines were supposed to be our biggest weakness. Not a good thing as all games are won at the line of scrimmage. Your lines historically being good has me worried. Let's play the game and get a better feel where both teams are at. Go RU!

From my experience, the B1G school “fans” that hate us are from our own backyard. For example, back in the 2016 game against Iowa I struck up a nice conversation with an elderly fan with an Iowa shirt on. His 30- something son was a real jackass. Yelling crap about Rutgers all game. Mind you he was siting in 124. Turns out they were from NY and the son was the Iowa grad. Same goes for Wisconsin, Michigan, OSU and MSU fans around here. I travel all over this country and their fans are generally great (except Michigan) when in their neck of the woods.

RU would have won that game if your defender did not stomp Janarion Grant's ankle (not saying it was intentional, but some have espoused that view) and if instead of having Tylin Oden try to punch it in at the goal line two times in a row, he handed it off to Martin.

Hoping for another close game and not a blowout, despite my prediction in the prediction thread.

What Iowa will try to establish Saturday is to run the ball, if successful they would be happy to run the ball all day if possible. On defense they will attempt to stop the run and put a lot of pressure on your QB. Regarding Iowa fans I have never heard them express negative comments toward Rutgers. Iowa has MN to the North, Wisky and Illinois to the East and Debbie to the West to hate, not much hate left in the tank for Rutgers.

Iowans are a simple people, and are easily offended by pork rolls. Pork rolls are often times mistakenly called Taylor Hams in New Jersey, and the often underestimated Iowans bite their tongues so as to not appear to be rude when correcting the barbarians from the East Coast.

The pig is sacred in Iowa, and Iowans are easily offended.

Many Iowans will no longer frequent the East Coast of Florida, having gone to great expense to move over to Naples and Ft. Myers due to the invasion of pork rolls, and other liberal delicacies.

This distaste has spilled over to the football field in the historic Hawkeye / Scarlet Knight football rivalry. While no one really knows what exactly a Hawkeye is, the simple people of Iowa think they do, and as mentioned previously, are easily offended by others that fun make fun of the idolized Hawkeye.

At football games Rutgers fans can be heard shouting, "You stupid pig farmer", and Iowa fans can be overheard shouting. "We're all fly over deplorables, until it comes to the farm bill, so keep paying high income taxes!"

You have to understand that, in NJ, the more apparent hatred we heap on someone, the more we think of that someone as family. It's a little counter-intuitive until you join one of our larger families for dinner. Then it all becomes clear.

I had a couple of Frat Brothers from Iowa. Great guys.

If Kirk needs my advice I'd tell him to put the passing plays back in the brief case and run, run, run.

That is all.

I dunno. Given the quality of their O line and the relative inexperience of our safeties, I think they will have plenty of success both running and throwing, given that their QB should have plenty of time to throw.

OTOH, we did show an unusual (in the Ash era) propensity to blitz against UMass in obvious passing situations. If that wasn't just down to the opponent, and instead is the start of a trend, we might get some pressure on their QB from a safety blitz or two. Our LBs will have to play with great discipline and tackling skill to make it work, though.

Our CBs seem like they might be decent this season. So that might help. Maybe.

Iowa's football team is boring as hell but I can say one great thing about the place. I have met an unusual amount of chicks from that state and they almost always are super hot.

So thumbs up Iowa.

You still hanging out at the Greyhound station, waiting for girls getting off the bus planning on making it big in Hollywood? That talent agent story still works?

Substitute the beach for the bus stop and me going or coming from the surf.

Lots of blondes being produced in that state :)
