Some times you may be correct but if you see the film, watch all of the replays. He is absolutely amazing, but if his first instinct isn't there he runs. There's no 2nd or 3rd option, it's either the first guy or run. That's not long term success
He has the worst receiving group in the league. They don’t get open. They can’t get open.
What is he supposed to do? sit back there and get drilled while he waits for anyone to clear a corner or safety?

I see ew at bears fans truly don’t deserve nice things.

I always felt that the McCaskeys simply weren't equipped to run an NFL franchise. Mike ws an egotistical putz who was , no pun intended, totally out of his league.

On George Halas's death bed, he said, "Anyone but Mike." Prophetic

George is better, but he's better equipped to run a True Value franchise. Plus, he's too loyal to people like Ted "what does he do" Phillips.

If I lived in Arlington Heights, I'd run like hell from any multi-billion dollar fiasco the chronically mis-managed Bears wanted to pull off.

You're not wrong for the most part. The thing that drives me crazy goes back to the Washington game. Multiple open guys missed and on the last play it was Mooney or nothing, who was never open on the last play. In the post game press conference he was asked about Monty on the last play and Fields dismissed the question and said, "nah he was the 4th option". If he's open who cares what option he was?!?!

Love his athleticism and I'm all in on the excitement he brings to the team but in the last 2 weeks he's broke Multiple records and they're 0-2.

They've also averaged 31 ppg the last two weeks. The losses have little if anything to do with Fields, and in actuality are probably a good thing for better draft pick. If the offense keeps putting up points, and Fields' confidence continues to grow, I don't care if they lose out except for the Green Bay game.

This year is shot. Keep building for next year. Fields is moving in the right direction I just hope he stays healthy.

You are saying a lot of things that are true with pretty much all young QBs in the NFL. Almost all of them pull it down and run sooner than they should at that level early in their careers. The speed of the game is the main reason for this. Once they settle in, this changes...with the good ones anyway.

I saw Fields look at his second and even third reads yesterday more than once. In my eyes he has made a lot of progress.

Fields had 60-yard TD runs in back to back weeks.

Walter Payton only had two 60+ yard TDs in his entire career.

Uneven day for Fields. He had some missed chances to get rid of the ball but generally was under pressure rather quickly on drop backs.

Overthrew Mooney on a deep shot that woulda been a walk in as the db fell down.

He gets a lot of passes tipped at the line.

He got pretty beat up today, but the most violent shots were on drop backs where the pocket collapsed.

The last drive play calling was poor. Not the time for QB sweep.

He was holding his shoulder hope he’s not to beat up. This was the first team that hit him this much. Time to pass and stop running him so much. Another loss but keep fields healthy for next year then add some offensive weapons a long with some defensive players. Play to fight/win another day./year. This year is done.

This year reminds me of the LWE season of [insert year here] where QB [insert name here] overcame a lot of adversity. The LWE coaches and program are top notch and worked through the season for our [insert number here] trophy. The Bears could learn a few things from the LWE staff and I'm really excited to be playing a classy top notch program in LA next Saturday!

All tongue in cheek Corey, no harm intended ;)

I'd say Fields is developing nicely. He's going through progressions way more than he was in weeks 1-5. They still need o line and receivers who can get open. Hope his shoulder is ok and the future looks bright with him back there! Now the defense, ouch.

From what I could tell, he took much much more punishment dropping back than he ever did on any designed run. That said, the last series play calling was really bad, especially considering he was clearly already banged up.
He occasionally still misses chances to get rid of the ball quickly, but the o line remains awful and the WR are far from a great group. The guy filling in for RG had particularly bad game yesterday in pass protection.

I will remind you, the shoulder injury Fields suffered on the first play on the last drive was the result of a designed run and not a drop back. He swept left and was tackled low and went out of bounds landing in a manner that caused the injury.

He is carrying the ball and running entirely too much and the inevitable happened. This is what guys like me and Corey and a few others were warning about. A QB shouldn't have more carries than the feature RB. And this has happened more than once since the Bears played Miami.

As for play calling, I thought Getsy was some sort of guru. You mean to tell me he couldn't see Fields was dinged bad enough where he shouldn't have been running on designed runs? That happened a couple times in that last drive and one was after he had hurt the shoulder already.

Fields does this team no good if he can't play at or near 90 - 100% and especially if he can't play at all. And I will say again, he will never be a top flight QB until he is effective throwing from the pocket. I will agree he has improved in this area. But he has more work to do.

I think we are in agreement. The play calling at the end was borderline criminal.
Absolutely need to see more development in the pass game. The combination of poor pass protection and Fields’ sometimes unwillingness or inability to get the ball out quickly will continue to be problematic.

Who the hell is our back up? He looks scared before the play has even happened. My god can’t the Bears get a decent back up? Wait okay I get it we need to lose this game in hopes of getting a higher draft pick. Damn I almost lost myself on what’s important this year. This season is shot. We found our QB let’s get a higher pick in the draft. 👍
I hate losing but in this case we need to stay the course. 😊 wow

What's your thoughts on 57?

The book said he was not drafted due to not athletic enough and a bit small

He looks good to me.

Great debate on him after the game on Kaplans show.

He’s solid and as long as he’s running at high RPM, he’ll survive and thrive a bit.

His ceiling is lower than the prototype, which will limit him, but I’ll take his mentality across the board.

Not sure what you are trying to say here. Walter didn't have the speed Fields has and that's a fact too. But, I have never seen a tougher running back, or player for that matter. You may or may not know, Payton had a 13 year career, took the pounding he took and only missed one game due to injury. That is beyond incredible.

When he left the league he held the all time rushing record. He punted, he played QB and I think he could have been a DB or receiver if he wanted to. Oh, and by the way, he is also in the HOF. I think he was the best all around player and will always be my favorite Bear of all time.

It doesn’t matter if you design runs it’s just more hits on your QB. Fields is already hurt. We need him to be around 5-6 years. If he keeps taking hits like he has this year he won’t last in the NFL. The coach needs to be smart on how he used his talent.

A guy who can start right now and not have to worry about replacing in offseason. I doubt he’s starting when they/if start really competing for SB.

You can’t keep blaming everything on the O-line. The play calling needs to change some so he isn’t running the ball as much. Fields is getting better but he also needs to get rid of the ball quicker. This could change if they get him a few more weapons this off-season.

Hard to get rid of the ball quicker when the DBs are running the receiver's routes. Lots to improve on in the Bears offense.

Lots to improve on all across the board. We better hope Poles is up to the task. The roster cupboard was pretty bare to start the year, before the trades and injuries.

Schlereth seemed rather optimistic today, and generally he doesn't mince words. However, he was excited about Russell to the Broncos...

He will always run the ball, he’s ELITE at it, again ELITE. I’ll blame the line as long as it sucks. He is never going to be a drop back passer…It is the coaches/fields job the find the right mix and learn how to protect himself better.

Btw, he made two throws that he would have ran 5 weeks ago for 1st downs. He’s learning every week. He’s such an elite athlete it will take time to learn to not just run.
