Mahomes is so good, and has been so successful, that people who wish to continue to criticize him are reduced to using his contract as a way to do it.
Mahomes was 17% of the Chiefs cap THIS year. Highest cap percentage by a Super Bowl winning team ever. By a lot (Brady at 12.61% was previous high).
Chiefs are just on another level. Will be interesting to see which teams can join them over the next few years as these young franchise QBs transition off their rookie contracts.
Cool thing about Mahomes is he can make any other teams cast offs look pretty good.
I don't think Brent veach plans on letting any of his other skill players get to be too expensive. Because his number two is Travis Kelce, and tight ends never get the big big bucks. Kelce will have a shorter career then Mahomes, and he will be a big loss when he's gone.
