He sounded like a kid on Christmas morning in the locker room after the game. I think we all know the level of competition we faced today but I think we also all know we would NOT have put on this kind of offensive performance against the same opponent last season. Besides the score, the play calling just seemed smooth and cohesive. I don't recall any play calls that made me want to pull my hair out as was a common occurrence last year.

I was so happy to see us handle an opponent of this level like we should. However, I am NOWHERE near ready to accept that we have a good offense yet. I've been a Gamecock fan for too long..... I'm cautiously optimistic though, and feel pretty uneasy about THAT! :D

As I said in another thread, I remember getting outgained by SC State last year, so I don't know what the Kent State result actually means, but it's light years ahead of what we could muster last year.

Still seeing some lingering issues w Sellers under throwing receivers, and his scrambling is now nonexistent, but we should be pleased w what we saw

Beamer goes bonkers over a first down completion. His histrionics don't impress me. We haven't played anybody yet and won't for another week at least. A practice scrimmage with the ones vs. the twos is more competition than Kent State and Towson will provide.

My philosophy is always "If you don't expect too much it's hard to be let down. And whatever pleasant surprises come along are icing on the cake."

We got outgained by SC State last year. Whatever this game did/didn't mean, we're light years ahead of where we were a year ago.

Exactly. I've been Charlie Brown trying to kick that football to many times.
I'll enjoy all the wins but I'm nowhere near thinking we are playoff bound.

It certainly appears that way. I expect a similar outcome Saturday. Towson is terrible too.

I think we can probably find a happy medium. Noting that the offense looked better than last year doesn't mean anyone thinks we are playoff bound.
