I agree with the guy above. Dude is legit like Aberdeen except a worse shooter. I don’t know why we are so high on him. Plenty better PG options out there. Unless this is a power play to get Stokes I think Pope is cooked after this year.
Zoom is a natural pg that can run the offense.
As good as DA was, he wasn't an assist guy, he was wired to score, but that didn't help the offense. Guys were standing around watching.

Zoom is a guy that can score, but is looking to get the other 4 guys involved. Huge difference.

How is an actual PG playing the PG position comparable to a SG who was playing a PG which was never his natural position? How can anyone with a brain not understand this? Make it make sense.

Pope isn’t taking Diallo if he knows he’s in good with Wright… Diallo is visiting and is on commitment watch, so I’ll leave the obvious to who it matters to, to figure that one out.

No if’s, and’s, or but’s about it, Pope needs Freeman more that he needs Wright if Diallo is one board! Lose Freeman to Oats, and the University just doesn’t give a damn about “hanging banners” anymore.

They have made it clear they want both!

Really good on the boards too, for his position. Gets 4 a game. I'll take that from my PG every time.

I wonder if Zoom will be observing Ramadan as Diuobate did? Ramadan for the year 2027 starts on the evening of Sunday, February 7th lasting 30 days and ending at sundown on Monday, March 8. Islamic holidays always begin at sundown and end at sundown the following day/days ending the holiday or festival.

I would take him a million times out of a million over Lowe. Bigger, stronger guard with better shooting numbers (and improving, look at his freshman to sophomore year jump). He's about the same size as Denzel but more of a natural PG. I think he'd be a great pickup. If we aren't sure about Wright, you take this kid and build the rest of the roster.
On top of that I think he was AAU or HS teammates with Stokes, no?

From Zoom Diallo - NBA Scouting Live:

Pros:
  • Decent scorer off the dribble
  • Adequate shooter
  • Terrific free throw shooter
  • Decent playmaker
  • Decent defender
  • Above average athlete
Cons:
  • Inconsistent shooter
  • Can be careless on offense, which can lead to turnovers
  • Can struggle to guard taller players
  • Can be inconsistent in games.
Overall:
  • Zoom Diallo is an agile and skilled combo guard. He can score and pass the basketball, and he can make shots in a variety of ways.
Add in he might help us land Stokes/is a PnR stud and it seems he would be an upgrade (which is what we need across the board)!

Bit of a stretch on the Aberdeen comp (I agree would love to have him back).

This is only my hope, but it looks to be the case, there's no WAY Pope goes into next season with just Zoom and Mason W as his only ball handlers. He would have to be dumb as a rock to repeat that mistake.

There's an old saying in Texas, maybe Tennessee, goes you fool me once shame on you, fool me twice you can't get fooled again...

Do you watch a lot of Washington games?

Let's get this done Pope.

He's definitely a big body guard which should theoretically help him avoid injuries. Reminds me a little of Tyreke Evans. I was getting excited for a jitterbug PG between Dedan Thomas and Rob Wright but I think Diallo is a good get as well.

Based on his numbers and a couple game highlights I've seen he's probably in the Oweh category of 3pt shooter. He'll take them if he's open but you don't run a set to get him a 3pt look.

Players get better throughout the season. Elliot Cadeau was nowhere near as good in November as he was Monday night.

Any guy we get, is going to get better as he gets acclimated with his team and the system.

Save the negative comments about Pope not developing players, he does and he has, but players have to own their development. They have to put the work in and gel with their teammates. Fit matters and so does player accountability.

Would agree with this assessment. ZD’s shooting a little worse as well, BUT, he’s familiar with the lead guard spot, a little bigger than DA, and seems to have more of an attacking gear. I personally didn’t mind DA.
Solid pick up if we get it. I liked Aberdeen as well.

Ramadan Mo was probably the best Mo we had.

Zoom committing would be a great start to our portal recruiting. Knowing who the pg1 is may help lead to us getting other commitments faster. Money is most players first priority and who their teammates are going to be is another important factor

Could we possibly still pursue Wright even if Diallo commits, running offense with 2 point guards could help and Wright shoots it like a 2 guard so I would love to land both.

Awesome. The #9 rated PG (who’s not really a PG) in the portal and a guy who can’t shoot and doesn’t pass well.

🙄🙄🙄

I watched some Washington highlights and Peterson plays the pg and Diallo Sg. I don't think he's a natural pg, more combo guard . Pope probably going to play him with another pg.
