Baylor won 2 games in 2020. This year they are Big 12 champions, won the Sugar Bowl and ended up with 12 wins.

This was the coaches 2nd year so the turnaround was not from a new head coach.

Can somebody with knowledge of Baylor football let us in on what they did to go from 2 wins to 12 wins in 1 year.

What’s crazy is this exact turn around just happened at Baylor a few years ago under Rhule. As for Baylor this year, hiring Grimes was huge. Offense went from very bad to very good.

Aranda figured out his staffs inadequacies quickly and made the right hires for replacements. Didn’t take him 3 and 3/4 years and AD intervention.

Aranda surrounded himself with a damned good staff. Throw in the fact he is one of the best defensive minds around and has no ego and you have to formula for success. His players all bought in to the I am one of eleven philosophy he advocates.

Jeff Grimes oc. Dude needs to be a HC somewhere, and I hope that if we tank again next year or two under Frost that he's available and we get him. Dudes a Titan of a coach waiting to happen...

It sounds a lot like what Frost did at Central Florida. In both cases, the teams had a lot more talent than what Frost had when he took over here. One of the biggest failures of Frost at Nebraska is that he hasn’t recruited well on offense.

I see a lot of parallels to Frost there as well.

If only Frost could have replicated that success here, but it appears our situation was completely different than Baylor or UCF.

No excuses though, Frost took way too long to realize the situations were different and the same process wouldn't work.

I thought their offense was awful.

its mainly because they play in the big twelve if they were in the big ten they would have won 5 or 6, like wise put aranda at nebraska and we would be about what we are today not much different

Aranda is like a field general. Team was disciplined and he had command on the sideline. I would take Aranda in a heartbeat. Aranda>Frost and it's not even close.

Big 12: 2-0 in new years day bowls, 2-0 vs the SEC
B1G: 1-2 in new years day bowls (against lower ranked opponents), 1-3 vs the SEC

Oklahoma St (#2 in Big 12) is every bit as good as B1G champ Michigan

the two leagues are nearly identical top to bottom. some will say the Big 12 doesn't play defense. I will respond with the B1G doesn't play offense.

They had Bohanan as their QB. He was a 5th year senior and paid his dues. He is a loyal Bear and stuck it out instead of quitting and going to mama portal. We need more loyalty like the Baptists do in Waco.
My wife and two sons went to Baylor. Its a great school and I like them very much. They're winners; even in Basketball. I'm cheering them on from now on.

loyalty may very well be the arrow through the heart of Nebraska football

But we will never know if AM would of turned the corner next year...
