With Fuente out of the mix, Baylor interim coach Joey McGuire, Louisiana's Billy Napier and LSU defensive coordinator Dave Aranda remain strong candidates to replace Rhule.

Why don't they go ahead and name Joey McGuire HC and quit screwing around.

He's not special. What he's done with the shape the ACC (outside of Clemson) is in, is not impressive to me. It's hard to follow a legend but Fuente was a mediocre hire and with the Foster recruiting ties drying up, the best is yet to come.

If you don't go 8-1 in the ACC you're a terrible coach. No competition. ACC stands for Always Cupcake Competition. Well, except for Clemson, which got its head handed to it by LSU.

Clemson was a good team.
Similar to 2004 Oklahoma. Had their asses kicked in the NC but still could have won a NC in most years.

LSU just did what Dana wanted to do but had the talent all over the field.
Have to develop a passing game that goes downfield.

9 years out 9 and a half Clemson smokes LSU, they won how many in a row? LSU had one good offense in several decades. People going after Clemson and ACC in one motion but it shows jealousy of alot of people. The ACC is a complete total joke, but what Clemsons done especially in the playoff is impressive as hell, especially last year against Bama and this year beating the "greatest most complete weakness-less unstoppable greatest team ever assembled in o$u.

That being said, any coach not having amazing success playing that conference schedule, and the ooc schedules alot of them plays vt in a back and forth rivalry with OLD DOMINION for crying out loud, should not be a candidate for any school with any respect for itself . They're gonna hire LSU defensive coordinator, so question becomes who takes over as OC, and do they follow his style or try and be what LSU has been on offense for 19 of the past 20 years or whatever, lame and sad and boring. They won a lot with their d, but as the conference got a couple teams that actually started running a real offense, they've been irrelevant for a while until finally this year. Credit to coach O

ACC is too mismatched with different type of schools.

The 4 schools in that conference who are in SEC states should set the tone.
You have to compete for recruits.

UNC has to make a total buy in that football is the way to go.
If that happens you could see about half that conference hit with the trap door.

Champions past decade
2019 LSU
2018 Clemson
2017 Alabama
2016 Clemson
2015 Alabama
2014 Ohio State
2013 Florida State
2012 Alabama
2011 Alabama
2010 Auburn

If Clemson was suppose to be so weak wouldn't their playoff games be like Oklahoma?

You might think Clemson is weak or plays a weak schedule but their coach is one of the best. Great guy. I don't like Clemson but I give Dabo credit for what he's done since 2011.

Pulling UNC from basketball is a hard sell man
... They are the top program imo.

That's really political.

If UNC can't be a basketball and football school how will WVU be able to.

No one said anything about not caring about basketball.
They could have the financial ability to care about both.
Name in Football carries more weight.
Only one fanbase I have came across will argue that and that is Kansas

The mismatch of schools is a good point. The pitiful haul that the ACC brings in would be even more laughable if the private schools had to publicly report for all to see.
