Are we the underdog here to get him? I think we R a final four team next year if Cliff comes back & we get this kid.

You don’t know the level of competition that he is up against….
my evaluation was based on his skills and smoothness of his movements. He has really good athletic ability, that doesnt look like he is doing well just based on him being bigger than rest.

His dribbling skills, passing skills, running, going up for a dunk, shooting, everything looks very very smooth and does not look awkward at all. He is a 4 star in my book.

If you look at the offers he has, it looks like offering sheet of 4 star player than a 3 star. "Real Coaches/Recruiter" sees a talent when they see it.

I wish Cliff comes back but I think it's pretty much written, he will be gone after this year...

We definitely need another big body for next year, and I wouldnt mind Ndongo being him.

You must be blind Shelby or cant get over your Rutgers insecurities. Just beat the #1 team on the road, blew out Indiana & Wake. Basically beat Ohio State on the road. Pike is really close.
Just a few players away. i love Cliff, but he needs another year. One more year & he is a first rounder. Not so sure about this year

Not many seniors going in the first round these days. Returning probably would just mean he doesn’t think he will have many options turning pro.

yea... it's crazy...

we got 6'10- 7'3" guys dribbling & shooting around like PGs now in NBA...
What you’re saying is true, but I more meant this guy doesn’t look even close to 6’10. It’s like how Ron was listed at 6’8 and measured at 6’4 in the nba draft combine

Not sure where it’s been written that Cliff is gone. Is it a distinct possibility? Yes. But I don’t think it’s set in stone.
Even Pike before the season started alluded that we need to enjoy Cliff this season which might be his last.

Unless you're a lottery pick, is the money for a late first-round or second-round pick much more than a top-tier NIL candidate?

yea he looks around 6'8" and not 6'10"
still love his ups and smoothness at that height.

Last pick in 1st round in 2022 was a guaranteed $11m over 4 years (draft contracts are slotted and determined by overall salary cap).

2nd round contracts are not guaranteed.
That's the big difference with deciding to declare or not if your on the bubble.

Generally if you aren't a guaranteed 1st rounder (see RHJ, Caleb, Clif potentially after this year) then you usually don't stay in the draft.

Unless you are just done with college basketball overall (see Jaden Jones).

The longer cliff stays in school the less likely he gets drafted and he’s second round at best in all publications right now. I think he stays all 4 years cause he can probably make more in NIL than the G league these days and we have a chance to be really good so that will help keeping him.

If Cliff really wants to be in the NBA, here's the things he needs to work on.

- Mid jumpers - (stop wasting time with 3 pointers right now, you can work on that after you can hit mid jumpers more consistently)
- Dribbling skills - he needs to be able to face the basket and make a move. There are too many guys in NBA who are as strong and as quick to be bullied by him just backing down.
- defense feet movement. too many times he is late getting to the area (i guess this could be his lack of instinct to see the play form quickly) and then tries to swat a shot instead of going straight up.

I think if he leaves after this year, (based on what he shown so far this year) he will be borderline late 2nd rounder at best.

It will be an interesting decision. NBA Minimum rookie contracts are ~$1M, 2-Way Contracts are $450K while G-League contracts are only about $40K.

Cliff reminds me a lot of Mitch Robinson and I do think with his athletic ability, measurables and work ethic will ultimately make him an NBA contributor. The challenge is that he came to basketball later and is a bit older so that will negatively impact his draft prospects.

Re: the final four. I maintain that’s a major stretch this far in advance. Have we shown we can go much better than .500 in conference ? And what about other teams ? No one else is recruiting as well or better? Obviously some are.

And at this point, Cliff doesn’t have the offensive skills for the NBA. It’s a perimeter and fast break game. He will be back, but i don’t think the team is a FF contender with the anticipated roster

NIL isn’t really an option for Cliff, in its traditional form, because he’s on a student visa.

Unless Rutgers takes a summer trip to another country where he could make NIL money - and it was 4 years ago the last time they did - they're due this summer.
