Who do you think ends up leaving the team after this year? I could see Green leaving

next year I’m thinking that we will be competitive and in top 5 of the Big 10

I could see Thor moving on if he’s accomplished his educational goals and sees an opportunity to play in Europe. Not saying I want him gone, because Thor and Mack play well together. But he’s raised his profile this year and that might open some doors for him.

That is not one I would've even considered. Next year is the payoff, I sure hope he's here for it. I want him and Teddy both splashing 3's for a tourney team!

Oh I agree with you. But Thor’s not going to make millions in the NBA, so if he has an opportunity to play for some money I wouldn’t fault him for capitalizing on it. It’s a young man’s game and doors can close quickly.

I’m gonna take the under on that. NU will surely be better next year (it will be nearly impossible to be worse), but Top 5 in the league is not realistic. They have a long, long way to go.

He could probably sign overseas right now if he wanted. I think Hoiberg is a big fan of how smart of a player Thor is and I think Thor enjoys playing for Fred. Money is not an issue for his family so I could see him sticking around. We're a better team with him on the floor. I said the same thing last year FWIW.

I know green has had a bad year and shot the ball terribly, but I hope he stays. He can do some things that few people can. Hoping an offseason with fred can help him.

He'll probably be back, and another year under Hoiberg will be good for him. But college basketball is getting more like baseball in that it's not necessarily a four-year gig anymore, and not just for lottery picks. The thread asked who might not be back next year and I think that list could include Thor - but for strictly positive reasons, not because he's not wanted back.

Nebraska will have to be more than competitive to finish in the top 5 of the B1G..This year isn’t the norm but 9-10 teams from the conference will make the dance..

Finishing with .500 record in conference play most years will get you in the dance..

Green, Burke, and Arop are the pool of potential transferees. I would put Easley in this list but think he has contributed enough that he will likely stay.

Green and Burke have shown enough flashes this season but are inconsistent. I think there is enough there that will probably stay. Both will be seniors next year and have transferred once already so I don't think they do that again.

I think Arop is the most likely to transfer. He wasn't getting much playing time early in the season but has gotten more lately. I wonder if Hoiberg is "auditioning" him to see what he can do now that the season is essentially over?

AROP needs to put some muscle on if he wants to play at this level. and he needs to shoot better as well, I see him leaving and all others sticking with it, got some pretty talented scolly guys sitting out this year so I do look for us to be maybe 10 wins better next year.

A lot depends on other teams too.

Teams that will be down next (compared to this season)
Iowa (big time)
Maryland
PSU (They could be really bad next year, I like Chambers and I hope he gets a fat extension, he has earned it in my mind)

Teams that will be up next year
Illinois
Michigan
OSU
Purdue

Teams that will be the same
MSU
NW (they will be a bit better but still struggle)
Indiana
Rutgers (they might drop a bit but it will be close)

NU will clearly be going up...they will need to take advantage of home games and teams on the way down.

Top 5 next year? I see (in no particular order)

MSU
Michigan
OSU
Illinois
Wisconsin

Why would iowa be down next year? They get Bohannon and Nunge back along with Garza, Wiescamp and Fredrick..

They’ll more likely be in the top 3..

I read something in an interview last week that made me wonder whether Yvan is really dejected with the losing, so maybe the fact he is so young and a long ways from home he might be the one that worries me. It's P5 basketball, obviously there will be some coming and going!

Oh, I am assuming that Garza is gone but that is just a guess.

If he is gone that team looks way different.

Isn't Bohannon coming back off of double hip surgery? Or is that someone else.

Yes he is... Garza won’t be turning pro from what I’ve been hearing from Herky friends..

If Garza can get first-round money he would be out of his mind to go back to college. And I would say the same thing if he played for Nebraska.

Maybe the NBA isn't that high on him, but he sure seems like a guy who would be a late first-rounder.

That would shock me. I mean...coming back to try to get better? He would have to avg 30 and 15 as a senior...

I would think he is gone but if he stays, they will be top 3 in conference. I agree with that.

If he goes, they will struggle.

Garza isn't on any draft boards. He'd be a late 2nd-round pick if anything. Unless he goes overseas, he'll be back at Iowa next year.

Cam Mack never wanted to be in college more than 1 year. If he leaves, hopefully Fred can convince Carter Whitt to reclassify to 2020 and come here to run PG next year. I would have liked to see us add a backup point guard to the roster regardless, maybe we still will if someone leaves.

he's a good college player, not a lottery pick

Technically speaking, basketball is not really a young man's game. Assuming you don't tear up a knee, you can play professionally in Europe for 10 to 12 years.

I have a friend who played in France until he was 36 years-old. Basketball doesn't tax your body like football.

To me cam Mack would have no business entering nba draft. Talented kid but doesn’t finish well around rim, doesn’t shoot particularly well, takes too many risks on defense. Like his quickness and his ability to find a cutter. With each recruit we land and each passing game, I see him as more replaceable

He's also a sub-60 percent shooter from the FT line. Skinny and short, you gotta hit your FTs. Lots of holes in his game, but he also has a lot of potential.

Cam Mack needs to improve his shooting FG and especially FT.. He isn’t quite ready to enter the NBA draft just yet...

Mack and Banton will be a tough duo to stop next season..

Hate to point it out to the Jays haters but the state of Nebraska could have its first legit final 4 team next year. Maybe (dare I say it) a #1 ranking at some point in the season too. Everyone’s back for the Jays except Jefferson but they add back Mintz who took a RS. They are going to be really good. Would smack the ow out of Iowa.

Would love to see a 4 team thanksgiving tourney sometime with Iowa vs Nebraska teams. Maybe first round would be Creighton vs NU & Iowa vs Iowa St. Winners play, losers play. If Iowa plays NU it’s considered a non-conf

Jefferson is the latest in a long, long line of players without whom Creighton will never win another game.

Jays need to wake up in a hurry today or their conference title hopes are going to disappear.
