He'll be good before the end of the season, but he's going to be really up and down and look really, really bad at times, too.

not too much should be read into the game. However I don't know if I'd go so far as to say this team is going to be very good. There are alot of young but talented players on the team. I could see an NIT bid with an outside chance of an NCAA bid. You could tell they were shocked that they were down by ten in the first half. However, it does show alot that they were able to come back to win. After all they could have easily just said that this was an exhibition game and mailed it in after falling down by 12 late in the second half.

I agree with Coach on this one. Losing your top 2 scorers and an extra starter is tough to overcome. We could come together late and make a run, but I can definitely see us struggling out of the gate

drive you nuts. They are very inexperienced, but very athletic. I would advise just enjoying the ride and not putting too much stock into post season this year. Their best chance at post season is if they figure it out late in the season and put together a win streak. It might be more fun to have a drinking game based upon Vanardo blocks and Bost 3 pointers.

We beat that team by 31 last year. At this point, I wouldn't be disappointed at all to sneak into the NIT with a 16-15 record.

it is a totally different team versus last year's.
for starters, they now have an Ex IU starter in Jamarcus Ellis.

they are as different from last season as we are from last season.

We lost our 2 offensive difference makers from last year in Gordon and Rhodes. I know Gordon could drive us all nuts by forcing so many things but he was still a load for the other team to contend with. Also, we lost Hansbrough who had his deficiencies especially on defense but was still a fairly skilled player with the most consistent outside shot on the team. And then added to that we lost what likely would have been our biggest impact recruit to Tennessee.

That being said, we still have a decent amount of talent on this team and possibly the best defensive player in the country, but a lot of the talent is still very young and very raw. We will struggle mightily at times this year on offense because we have no inside scoring presence (bye bye Charles) and our outside shooters are just not very consistent. Boy, wouldn't it be great to get the shooting Barry Stewart back that played the first 2/3rds of his freshman year. I don't know what happened to that guy but I digress. Anyway, this team needs to run to be at their best and I'm not sure Rick will feel comfortable letting them do that. And more experienced, defensive minded teams who force us into a half court game will make our offense look UGLY. In my mind making the NIT and being around break even in the SEC should be about what the goals are for this team. Anything better than that means that they have surpassed my expectations and gelled much faster than should be expected. Next year, however, assuming Jarvis is back, should set up to be a big year for us.
