Sounds like NU just missed getting an insurance or two (ball hit just foul). Need to close it out.

We just faced the best team of the entire weekend. and if we play the way we did tonight both tomorrow and Sunday, we'll walk away with a sweep. That's not looking too far ahead, that's just a plain fact.

I wouldn’t chalk up Mississippi St as a W on Sunday they too are ranked 16th in the country..

We just got a taste of being able play with and beat one of the big boys in an extremely tight game which helps us more in growth than if we would've won by several runs as it requires more focus and attention to detail.

This is a huge confidence builder as we held one of the top 10 hitting teams in the nation to only 4 hits and 1 run. We now have momentum and now have to learn how to keep it! We also now know the level we have to play at and maintain to get to where we wanna go.

If we would've played the way we did last night in the first 2 games last weekend, we walk away with 1 or both games. Oregon State's starting rotation and BP were the best we will face all year and it isn't even close

IMHO by season's end, our starting rotation and BP could be downright nasty. 1st year players playing at the level they played last night was downright impressive and Kuddo's to them. The future is bright! GO BIG RED!!

On a side note, I watched the game last night and a blown call on the tag out at 2nd in the 3rd cost us a shutout as the ball and tag reached the base before the runner. I'll be honest, I think it was intentional but no need to cry over spilled milk as we got the W and will take it.

Never underestimate an Erstad team to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. We had to get past Sam Houston St before talking about Miss St...

It's baseball. It's easier to beat a really good team and lose to a bad team in a one game setting than in many other sports. You have to see how the whole season plays out. We had a good start last year but fell apart when we ran into the buzzsaw of the powerful BiG TeN conference.

Sort of a disappointment to lose to Sam Houston State after the big win against Texas Tech, but SHS only lost 5-4 against #12 Mississippi State. Let's best MSU and get out of town with wins against two nationally ranked teams. That would be a very solid weekend outing.

Totally agree. I'm not and never have been a fan of Erstad. But I'm glad he schedules difficult games early in the year and at the start of this weekend, we all would have been happy with a split in the first two games. Go 2-1 and it's a great weekend. Go 1-2 and it's still better than sweeping some crap team that nobody's ever heard of.
