We have always been a baseball state, and unlike football, we have the college success to prove it. Our small population does not hamper us as much in baseball as it does football.

Look at youth participation in baseball vs. football.

Look at college attendance and success, many times we've had 4 teams in the NCAA tournament.

Look at the fact that we have 2 MiLB teams in this state (they may not be well attended, but the fact that someone was convinced there was market enough for 2 teams tells you something).

And speaking about all sports, if this state could even see a marginal population increase, there is no telling how big the sports programs, even football, could be. I would complain about the lack of unity, i.e. MSU and Ole Miss splitting everything, with USM also to contend with, but the toothpaste was out of the tube on that long long ago.

And I absolutely love it that way. I’ve always loved baseball, and now it’s gotten to the point where I hate the fall and find myself counting the days until opening day. Football is a good distraction, but it doesn’t compare to baseball.

Could not agree more. Just think what it will be in 5-10 years.

Last Sunday night at the new Dude was the closest thing I have seen to a night football game energy wise. And I've been to many a super bulldog weekend and super regional at MSU over the last 20 years. Last Sunday was not a casual loose happy go lucky social event. It was pure intimidation. Maybe we will see that again this weekend.

I feel the same way y’all do. I like football but it can’t compare to baseball for me. Was there last Sunday and agree with assessment Woof. Hope we have the same intensity for Stanford that we had for Miami.

Two programs that are normally top 5 in attendance, and another one that is routinely between 15-20. The third place program in the state would be the best, facilities and attendance-wise, in most places. Just need a natty, and I’ve got a good feeling about the Bulldogs this year.

Be careful listing attendance Rick. Brandon Marcello might get his panties in a wad and go on a Twitter tirade.
