The only information I've seen was in The State today, the 3 candidates mentioned are Schnall. Fitzgerald, and Ramsey @ Georgia Tech. Ramsey seems high risk. He's 45-9 after 1 year at Tech. He's 36 yo, he was an assistant there, and inherited a very good team. Either of the other two seem to be great choices if they would come. I lean towards Fitzgerald who is currently at Kansas. He's 382-161 in 4 years as HC. Has experience as an assistant at Dallas Baptist and LSU.

The hype for Fitzgerald reminds of when Lemonis was the flavor of the day on this board as a Head Coach wanted. Did win CWS with MSU, but gone now....

The math ain't mathin' - 543 games as a college HC in 4 years is about 135 games/year.

Ramsey should be the guy imo. Is it a coincidence that they’re having their best season in decades after he moved from associate head coach and hitting coach to head coach? He’s an elite recruiter, with a great resume ( former 1st round draft pick, played for MM at FSU, , coached under Mike Martin, and Danny, Hall of, has recruited 4 top 5 recruiting classes at GT). Oh and he’s only 36 years old. Best fit for what we’re looking for imo

How do you entice a guy like Ramsey who has built something special from the ground up to leave it behind and come to a disaster like we have here at SC and have to start over with the building process?

Money for one. He’s making $450k. We paid PM $1.4 mil . Not to mention resources. Facilities, support staff, nil budget etc. Also, if he’s a competitor like I’m sure he is, he wants to make his mark somewhere and what better place than a sec school that is rich in tradition, has the fanbase, facilities, and resources to be successful at a place everyone knows that it is possible.

So you're wary of Ramsey, but Schnall, who is in his second year with mostly inherited players is just fine?

Christian Ostrander, at Southern Miss, is probably a popular candidate for a number of programs. Just completed his 3rd season at USM, winning 40+ games for the 3rd year in a row and will very likely host a regional for the 3rd year in a row. Also won the Sunbelt regular season title, edging out Coastal to do it.
