Looks like it's a Let's Help Ruston game:

Admission to the game will be free and all seating will be general admission. The Salvation Army will be on site accepting monetary donations to support Ruston, Louisiana and Louisiana Tech University's campus to aid in recovery from the recent tornados that touched down in the area. Checks can be made payable to the Salvation Army.

What is not to understand? We are replacing a game cancelled due to weather issues. We originally were scheduled to play #37 RPI Nebraska in the Frisco round-robin and we replaced them with a home game against #55 RPI Louisiana Tech. We needed to add a replacement game and could not afford for it to be another BAD RPI GAME because our OOC RPI is the worst among the RPI top 50 today. We can improve our post-season resume & get some positive press raising money for tornado relief.

It has a good chance to be a top-50 RPI game. Had been rumored even before the tornado hit Ruston. I like it, and I like that it's a Help Ruston benefit game.

Its not going to help our rpi but a loss will hurt it. We have a ton of quad 1 wins and they may not even finish quad 1. And it adds a game two days before our last series when we didnt have to have one.

It would be a nice schedule most years from the outset but we have obliterated our ooc slate so we can only hurt ourselves.

I assume this is to help la tech after the tornado like a poster above says

Any hurt a loss would do to our resume would be miniscule. And having a game 2 days before a weekend series is no big deal. It's baseball. It's meant to be played every day, and you play better when you play most every day. Also, I really don't like the idea of our #4 starter not having hardly any innings in May going into postseason, so it helps from that standpoint as well.

That OOC SOS of #204 could leave a mark on Selection Day if we are on the bubble for either a National Seed or to Host. A loss to a 50ish RPI team will not be as bad as a sub #200 OOC SOS. We only have one OOC loss all season, so it is not a stretch to think we beat them at home with both teams utilizing mid-week pitchers.

It won't hurt any worse than if we lose to South Carolina. Actually La Tech has a higher RPI than them and a decent chance at getting to Q1 as they have LSU on the road next week and have been Q1 all year long.

The real issue is we scheduled five SWAC games. We should have played someone like La Tech in Biloxi, USM in Jackson, or played La Tech in Starkville and someone like Tulane in Biloxi. We should never play out of state SWAC teams in baseball unless it's in a regional.

Good point. Just getting that OOC SOS under 200 would help. Not that I think we're going to need any help getting national seed with or without this game.
