If only we could get the unbiased opinion of Steven Godfrey! Will HD6 still defend Sally?

How in the world would he come up with that logic? What a moron. How could you pick a “Team of the State” that is likely to finish 5-7 wins and say they are better than a team that’s projected to win 9-11 wins.....These people are crazy. The rebels-sharks-bears-whatever don’t have a competent Defense....No depth. If you 100% commit to running the rock down their throat you don’t lose to them..

Exactly, the Bearsharks won by 3 points against us in a game where they purposely took out our starting QB (had to play a true FR) and where we turned the ball over 5 times.

Sally claims he has nothing against Mississippi State nor is he a water carrier for the OM administration. Yet he honestly believes Ole Miss is the better team in the state this year.... surely he’s not dumb right

https://www.cbssports.com/college-f...-team-in-each-state-entering-the-2018-season/

He's nuts. Even IF he tried to rationalize his pick based on the title "entering the 2018 season" as meaning "how they finished 2017", OUR season didn't end with the Egg Bowl. We went on to win a bowl game and finish with 9 wins. We clearly had a better 2017 season than OM and are a consensus pick to have better season than OM in 2018.

If I remember correctly, following our 2014 Orange Bowl appearance, Salle picked State to finish either last or next to last in the West. When he then joined one of the local radio shows(may have been This is Our Show), he explained how overrated it was to have a returning Heisman trophy contending QB. At that point, I knew that he either just loved trolling State fans or else he was a complete idiot. It's possible that both are true

He picked us last that year. If i remember correctly he had 1. Auburn 2. Alabama 3. Arkansas. Also with the great Jeremy Johnson winning the Heisman....

I’d be curious to see Sallee’s picks versus actual finish for MSU since he became a published sports writer.

Click bait. He accomplished what he set out to accomplish. He doesn’t really feel that way. He just knows it will piss MSU fans off and get people talking about him.

Maybe he's smart enough to know that posting dumb stuff will get more traffic than boring old factually-based stuff.

If he were good at being right, he could make a lot more money working for the sports books or on Wall Street.

I used to think this, but now, I think is he a baffling idiot. He's quite possibly the dumbest human being in his profession.

It's hard to say State is significantly better than OM at this point. Sallee has a unique grasp of the Rebel Bear Landshark's Will to Win, along with the Ole Miss Network's win-at-any-and-all-cost philosophy. It would be a mistake to sleep on OM. They may indeed win 8 or 9 games this year, including an upset of what should be a much deeper, if not better, State team at the end of the year. That would suck, but it could happen.

I would love to know where you can find 8 or 9 wins on their schedule. Their offense is good enough for them to upset one good team and find a way to 6 or 7 wins, but that feels like the absolute ceiling with that defense. Their one big upset a year ago required a gruesome broken leg, five turnovers, and playing against a coaching staff that had mailed it in, and they still barely hung on.

Those clowns have yet to prove that they can beat Arkansas and Vandy on anything close to a consistent basis, or in Arkansas’s case, at all. They play both on the road this year, and also have to travel to Baton Rouge and College Station. They aren’t beating Bama or Auburn at home, and beating us would require another really fluky type of game. I don’t think we will have any problems being focused this year and I think we win by double digits.

Their offense better be the best offense in the history of tackle football if they are going to win 8 or 9 games with that defense and Matt Luke as their coach.

From just one paragraph in a long article, he's created a thread of 17 posts and counting on a popular SEC school message board pointing back to his content. He knows exactly what he's doing.

Since we're making new board rules... I can think of a few more topics that should be automatically deleted

Exactly but I just want him to explain his logic.

His name is tied to the article. I just don't understand looking like an idiot on purpose. I guess you have to feed your kids regardless.

And a lame duck coach who cared more about whether he was going to have to settle for the UT job or if he might still have a chance at the UF job than the fact he had a game to coach that day.

No trolling. Honest. Just asking you to consider where Sallee is coming from.
Ole Miss will do what it takes to win, including breaking ankles. I'd love to see them go 0-8 in the conference every year. But mostly I want State to beat them by 35 points each and every year.
Let's be real: except for Fitz's performance in '16 (and remember Ole Miss got obliterated by Vandy the week before) and Dak gutting it out in '13 (along with the Wallace fumble), the Rebel Bear Landsharks have won 4 out of the last 6 Egg Bowls.
I thought States' teams were better, but the scores haven't indicated that. And that sucks.
Did Mullen phone it in for most of those losses? Likely. Those losses have helped make Ole Miss look better than they are. They should be a trainwreck now. If we take two of those four OM Egg Bowl wins from them, they would be.
The NCAA sanction on them were not much more than a slap on the wrist.
I truly hope JoMo can get it done on the field, consistently win the recruiting battles and make it evident that State football is a better product than OM. But until that happens, stay thirsty, Bulldog brethren.
I do think State can and will win the West next year with a victory over Bama. But I could also see an upset somewhere. Let us just hope its not at the hands of the Rebel bear Landsharks.

He says in the intro to the article that recent head to head matchups were taken into consideration. We lost the last time we played them. He also has UCF as the best team in Florida and Memphis as the best team in Tennessee

Why do we lose this war every season? Some dickheads just say **** for attention. Some are too obvious and wear turtlenecks with sports coats and get fired (Danny kanell)....others thrive on drawing attention by picking on susceptible and reliable targets that never seem to get wise to the tactics...that is sallee. Are we seriously going to do this every season?
