I didn't get to watch much of the game. Got mad when we were down 11 listening in the car. Figured I was the bad luck...

Why was Banks benched? Internal discipline?

Quite interested in this myself.

Announcers mentioned the obvious - that he didn't start, but was available - however I don't remember hearing them say the reason for that decision.

Banks is a solid player but other than Stirtz there's nobody else on roster that we can't find an equal or better player in portal with their spot. Even if everyone stayed we still need at least a couple good additions.

I noticed someone in the Nebraska student section waving his mugshot.

Speaking of that mugshot....

He was arrested on October 12.

On Jan 16:

IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) - University of Iowa men’s basketball player Tavion Banks has pleaded guilty to a disorderly conduct charge.

Police say they intervened Banks, 22, who was fighting with ReUnion Brewery staff around 1:15 a.m. October 12, 2025.

As part of the plea deal reached Wednesday, Banks will pay $65, and a public intoxication charge will be dismissed.

Banks is a senior forward from Kansas City, Missouri, and transferred from Drake University.

The Iowa Athletic Department’s previous statement on Banks’ arrest said he was “subject to established university protocol regarding the UI Student-Athlete Code of Conduct, and the rules and regulations set for members of the men’s basketball program.”

I like Banks and think he’s been a pretty big reason for the successes this year. Just probably at a long point in the season & slipped up a bit. Gotta set the example for future teams/players.
It seems some people have higher standards for college basketball players than they do for the top jobs in the federal government. At least that's what some people are saying. I'm not saying it, but I have heard it. Oh, and how do you like my new gold curtains?

Exactly. Ben would NEVER let that slide even if he wanted to. That kind of behavior would crumble a team.
Doesn't seem like Ben's way of operating. If there is any truth to his intentionally missing practice then I think we'd be hearing about a significant "violation of team rules". I wonder if it's in any way related to his feet problems -maybe they were giving him issues and they reduced his minutes accordingly?
