Have you ever heard of Andre Drummond (uconn) or Brandon Rush (Kansas) (both NBA players/big time recruits off top of my head who signed in the month of August)

Oh, and btw Drummond signed with uconn on August 27th so nearly September.

Drummond also reclassified late. Bamba has not, and has had all the info he needs for some time now.

will he commit before Independence day? I am just getting tired of it, I mean you would think he would just want to get it over with and move on.Apparently not however!
That's what he's waiting on. Gonna commit to the cats and blue fireworks gonna go off behind him!

I'd bet he knows where he's going..looks like he loves the attention

He's asking for threads to be made about him on message boards? He's not giving interviews or talking to anyone. How is he is loving the attention what you get out of this situation? He's not seeking it out but he could be

It's only May.. Some players wait until AUGUST to declare. This is a BIG decision for a kid. There are things that he apparently is hung up on

Connection with Shaka Smart.
Wanting to play with buddies at UK.
Genuine care about top notch education (Duke).
A kid milking every bit of the attention that comes with being a top 3 recruit.

He's not on our time schedule so just relax, UK will exist with or without Bamba.

He can take all the time he wants but I wonder if reason number 3 really is a factor, a lot of them say that then three years later it doesn't matter.

It scares me that some of you think these teenagers wake up every day and agonize over this decision like it's homework that is due the next day. It isn't the only thing on their mind.

He isn't dragging it out. There's no one else we're after that he could cost us. None of the players can be on campus yet anyway. It makes no difference if he commits a month ago or a month from now.

Of course, the OP is trolling, but we see this every year from people who believe it.

#4 is completely not what this is. Bamba doesn't want attention . Hell when he announces he will probably do it randomly as it has been said he doesn't want a bunch of hoopla around it . IF anything the attention is what is causing him to delay.

On one hand, he has all the info he could possibly need to make a decision. Nothing will change between now and his announcement. Aside from Diallo, we already know who is staying and going at UK, Texas, and Duke, there are no pending coaching changes, and it's not like he still needs to schedule official visits or wait to see where another top player commits. All the variables that could affect his decision are already known.

That said, the longer this plays out, the more I like UK's chances as it becomes less emotional and more of a business decision. It also means the best recruiter in the business has more opportunities to close.

The truly objective factors favor UK:
  • Great NBA pipeline, especially for big men
  • Best development he could receive, not only in terms of coaching, but competition in practice on a daily basis
  • Chance to compete for a championship vs. going to an 11-win program (UT) or one with a severe lack of depth (Duke)
  • Chance to play with close friends
  • Chance to play with others who have the same goals and aspirations regarding a pro career in the NBA
  • UK is a basketball school, not a place where basketball is a distant afterthought to football, which means the best facilities and fan support, plus far more TV coverage

The longer things drag out, the more those factors will trump a relationship he formed with an unproven coach during his summer U18 experience.

I looked it up. John Wall announced May 19. Maybe Bamba is on a similar schedule. [winking]

Kentucky isn't for everyone. Remember Jaylen Brown, ultimately 3rd pick after his freshman yr. He was a mild mannered kid. Didn't like the amount of attention he would of received at UK. It doesn't make him a bad player, some people don't want to go where the lights are the brightest. I don't know if Bamba is like Jaylen so...
Some part of me thinks that Cal already knows his decision. Swaggy Cal keeps UK relevant throughout the year, not just during the season. He'll let combine do their thing. All the speculation until May 24th, we will know about Diallo. Wait a WK and then if no Diallo, then Cam commits.
Then wait a WK and Cal going to Egypt for U19 team. So maybe now Bamba commits always keeping UK Basketball in the news.
Or maybe Bamba really doesn't know.
If he goes to UT, he can be the man, will have 1/4th the nat'l coverage, if that. Doesn't have a chance to even win their own conference. The less exposed the higher the ceiling for draft spot.
If he chooses UK, surrounded with allstar talent. Basically all UK games nationally televised. Has a chance to dominate SEC. Have the highest chance to win NC with UK. And most recognition.
If he chooses Duke, same as above, guaranteed 30 min plus per game. He'll play the 4 like he wants to in NBA.
Same media coverage as UK. Maybe less focus on Bamba due to share positions with Carter and Bolden....
Would love him at UK, but we are still pretty solid without him.

Relax everyone. In the end Bamba chooses UK. Diallo comes back or we get Johnson. No lose situation. Everyone just calm down Cal will get the job done. Cal knows where Bamba is going already, and he knows if Diallo stays in the draft Johnson will commit to UK. Some of you need do a little yoga, run, take a muscle relaxer or just have your mama (wife) give you a massage, or get a massage from a young, beautiful women.

A little toke of green also helps.........I mean that is what I heard.
