but you do agree 2 NITs and its time to go right?

I don't think you can really look at these things in a vaccum. I mean what if we had NIT this year, people came back which led to a final four next year? Then what.

There's been some pretty good coaches noted above that have been to more than one NITs.

But why not wait until this season is over to count this season as a mark against or for Cal lol.

That class was interesting

Green and Richards weren't good as freshman
Vanderbilt & Baker were not healthy
SGA actually turned out to be one of the best that played here
Diallo was good...not up to his ranking though
PJ ended up peaking late in the year.
Knox was good, not a superstar

I still wonder how well that team would've performed had Baker and Vanderbilt been healthy the entire year.
Can’t see how can say Diallo was good . I thought he was terrible.

also not lost is the re-incarnated John Wooden remark when Cal has talked about passing UCLA in Championships
To lose those heartbreaking games he's lost....you have to have good enough teams to get to that point. So you could have a genius X's & O's coach who could always win those games...but then again those X's & O's don't matter if you can't win it all.

Tom Izzo always can win the big game and get to a Final Four...but he got his title 20 years ago...what since?
Bill Self always has a regular season monster....but 1 title in 17 years...he gets elite recruits and seniors
Roy Williams has to build teams up over 3-4 years always

Coach K is the only one you can say has done better these last 10....and the difference is a missed shot clock in 2015.

Congrats...Cal is worse than the best coach of the modern era. FARRRR HIM!

Cal set the bar for himself

The fans are just holding him accountable.

We both know Cal isn't the kind of guy that accepts excuses for performance right?

I get the frustration tho.

Heck I'm frustrated.

The 1-4. The way we are playing. I mean it's just awful.

He should be held accountable for this. No doubt.

Hopefully they get this turned around.

Love ya Aike but didn’t age well.

I’m just messing around. Had some time, found the thread and thought it interesting. I don’t ever pull up old threads but this one.....

couldn’t resist.

Eh. Guy I was responding to was a punk. I honestly don’t know whatever happened to SKJ, but Gabriel did come back. Was a 7/5, 40% three point shooting contributor on a so-so team.

I wasn’t bragging on Wenyen. Just saying he would be a returning contributor. Because the guy was saying we would be all freshmen. And the guy was a punk. Probably wasn’t in the mood to let it slide that day. I’ve matured a great deal since then, as you can see.

Old cracked dried up Zombie thread? What moron dredged this up? In fairness, I guess they are going to dredge up every missed recruit on every coach n KY history. Or was this just another cheap shot on Cal? The latter no doubt.

Interesting that we missed on another top recruit to Texas this past year who could have really helped us. The top 1-5 guys are just going anywhere they want and trying to make an impact, usually close to home. We’re not pulling them anymore. The market of great 1 and done college players is wide open. We no longer have that advantage which is why Cal needs to change his team building philosophy.

I don't think the man has suddenly forgot how to recruit top talent tho.

I think recruiting goes in cycles.
You do realize that Cal gets the #1 or #2 class every year because he has to bring in 5+ guys, where 99% of his competition is only looking a for 1 or two guys right?

But all he's been getting are the lower tiered 5* guys. Some say Boston is a top 5 recruit, but you're smarter than that I hope.

The bottom line is, Cal has missed on the legit big dogs in all but one class since 2014. DeArron Fox ended up being a star, but that's it. If you're going to do this on-and-done farm system gig, you better land the big dogs or you're going to struggle.
