As far as Bamba is concerned, this is really the only thing I need to see as of right now:

Kentucky fans will be happy to learn the source of his surge in confidence: a conversation last fall with Wildcats coach John Calipari.

“We have a great relationship,” Bamba said. “When you grow up in Harlem and you tell somebody that you want to be a professional basketball player, they’re going to scoff. They’re going to look at you and be like, ‘I don’t think you should shoot for that.’ That’s something that has just been hanging over my head my whole life.

“Coach Cal came in and said, ‘If you want to be a pro, freakin’ tell somebody you want to be a pro.’ That was one of the things that helped change my game.”

From the 247Sports forums I've been reading:

K Rat will get Wendell Carter, Mohammed Bamba, Kevin Knox, Gary Trent Jr. and Quade Green/Tremont Waters.

Cal will get Trae Young, Michael Porter, Hamidou Diallo, Billy Preston, John Petty, Jerrod Vanderbilt, Ikey Obiagu and Brandon McCoy.

Bill Self will get DeAndre Ayton, they"ll hang a banner for getting the #1 HS Recruit in The Phog and then Ayton will end up playing 5 minutes a game during the season and will declare for the draft shortly shortly after KU loses in the 2nd Round to Southwest Texas State.

I have predicted the future!

He really is.

Ayton is incredible. He could start for a lot of NBA teams right now. Ayton is the type of player that makes you realize how silly it is that some of these kids have to wait a year to enter the draft.

This class IMO right now is Ayton, then everyone else. Not nearly as strong at the top as 2016 was.

You mean listening to Duke homers, on Duke forums, because you're a Duke fan. If you read that and still think Bamba is Duke bound you're straight delusional.

I do agree, however bamba is a freak and fast. Ayton has some issues that are shrouding his eligibility right now so That's why I didn't say him

What eligibility issues is he having? I haven't heard anything but that would explain why every blue blood isn't throwing the kitchen sink at him.

Let's wait until next Spring to compare 17 to 16. For my money, guys like Ayton, Porter and Bamba are every bit as good as Tatum and Fox.

And the depth of 16 has the benefit of hindsight. This time last summer Wenyen Gabriel was just starting his rise. Let the summer at least play out.

Who knows where this kid ends up, but it can't hurt to have the kid feeling so good about our coach this early in the recruiting process. I hope and think we sign this kid in the end. When a kid has that much of a factor on defense, i always want Cal to sign the kid. If he has the talent to block over 3 shots a game, that's the kid i want at Kentucky. Defense isn't as flashy as the kid that can score 20ppg, but when it matters, it's just as, if not more important than offense.

Ditto! Ayton is hands down the best player in the class and its not that close. Bamba has been very good, Ayton completely dominating. Ayton is just so advanced for a big his age. I don't think its a exageration that Ayton could start for some NBA teams right now. Bamba is probably the best player that will actually play college basketball. Doubt Ayton ever plays a minute in college.

Considering Cal will not offer Preston a scholarship I'm thinking this info is questionable at best .

I totally disagree...........I have seen Ayton play twice..........once in the Hoop Summitt, where he was totally invisible & a couple of weeks ago in the AAU circuit against Bamba. In that game he stayed at the free throw circle waiting for a pass so he could take a jump shot instead of down low where he belongs. Bamba clearly out played him in that game. Plus Ayton had another 7' kid on his team that played harder & was actually more dominant than Ayton. Ayton is lazy. Maybe these 2 games he was off his norm, but he did not impress me at all. Bamba played hard & was aggressive.

Ayton has been by far the most dominant player this summer and it's not close. He can be lazy at times apparently, but he's brought it this summer. He's cemented himself as the #1 player in the class and every guru would say that. It probably doesn't matter though since he likely will never play a minute of college basketball.

Most scouts are saying Bamba will become the number 1 prospect at some point. Bamba is better than Ayton.

I watched those games as well and totally agree with your assessment. Bamba is definitely the better player of the two.
