At one point it was 30-8.
Petty was 4 for 4 from 3.
Games over
Between what I saw from UT and LSU tonight UK might be ok.

I have said for a while that Oats would be my 1st choice if Cal was to leave. He called out Coach rat when they canceled games and said he wouldn't do that if he was 4-0 instead of 2-2. He plays as he did at Buffalo when they knocked out ARZ and Ayton. They have scored 43 with almost 8 minutes left. He is an up and comer in the coaching ranks and probably gets a big school offer in a year or two if he keeps it up. Bama is tough this year and might be hard to catch. One thing is for sure he coaches a fun style to watch.

Reminds me a bit of Loyola Maramount in the late 80s and Pitinos Bombinos except Bama has the athletes.

Watching Petty start 7 for 7 from 3 so far kills me knowing he wanted to come to UK. I really thought we were going to bring him in I still don't get that one because there wasn't anything I know of to back off of him before like money.

Bama's halfcourt offense reminds me of Rick Pitino's offense at UK without the full court pressure. When you have 5 guys that can score, it doesn't make sense to make unnecessary passes. The first guy with a good look lets it fly. I LOVE the pace they play at and their ability to make open shots.

It's the EXACT OPPOSITE of the Cal offense. We RARELY get a better shot late in the clock than we would have had in the first 10 seconds. The game hasn't changed. Putting the BALL IN THE HOOP is still the MOST IMPORTANT aspect of the game!!

Six threes to open the game. Easier to shoot when the head coach isn’t screaming like a mad man
Oates has never won a thing and he won’t this year either. Gimmick offenses are all fun and good during the regular season.

At what point does Bama move into the top five nationally?

This argument about coaches not winning a thing “yet” is pretty weak. All great coaches have been there at one point. If you think that’s a “gimmick” offense, you might want to watch an NBA game. They have guards who will drive and score on you all night if you overplay them. If you help off, they are kicking it to knock down shooters all over the floor. This is not a gimmick. It’s basketball.

I assume you are one of the ones that would rather have Oates then Cal? Feel sorry for you if that’s the case. He’s the latest flavor of the month who is having a good season and people go crazy. Bama won’t do anything in the tournament. Let’s reel it in a bit.

It’s not a gimmick. It’s modern basketball. Also, Oats is in his second year at Alabama. He hasn’t had time to really build up their program. It takes a few years to get things going. The fact that he has Bama looking as good as they are is impressive to say the least.

What is gimmicky about it? The fact that they don't swing the ball around the wing for 25 seconds and insist on feeding it down low like it's 1987? This team may very well falter when it counts but as I have tried to impart on my Bama brethren just make the freakin tournament.

Oates is 123-61 and 2-3 in the NCAA tournament, but he would be the the savior of UK basketball! Lol (not that UK needs saving) He was pretty good as a high school coach though!

I’d wait until after the tournament to see what Alabama does. We had a flavor of the month recruiting wise 2010-2015. Now we have a flavorless program all together!

I mean let's be fair he was at Buffalo and made the NCAA Tourney 3 out of 4 years. While there they knocked out a hell of an ARZ team. This is only his 2nd year at Bama and he's doing pretty well. It's not like he has had a shot at a real BB school and yet he is thriving.

A little easier to do things here than Buffalo and even Bama in BB.
