Hey UK basketball. It’s so refreshing to see players celebrating the success of their teammates.

Guess what. Bama proves you can play championship level and still go pro. And you do it by taking care of each play. No self promotion. No doing things your way.

Saban has the famous recipe. It’s so refreshing. My gawd their attitude and attention to detail is a thing of beauty. They don’t talk about being great. They just do it. Every freakin year.

saban never adds up the salaries of his pro players. It’s not his job. Yes, Alabama is the model. They are the standard in all college sports.

Players go there because they know they will go pro, and the place is set up to feed the NFL, but they don't go on and about it and ignore all of the things and traditions that make the Alabama program what it is historically. Nick Saban doesn't make excuses after losses. Or dodge the media.

And Saban has continued to evolve. He used to be a defensive dominated coach and has adjusted to realize a great offense is hard to beat. The games in football and basketball have shifted in how they are officiated in a manner to allow fans to see more offense.

Cal seems to not be evolving on his attitude towards the offensive side. He used to be innovative but not so much anymore.

If football recruits could leave after one season they would bail too. So, if basketball players had to stay till they are 21 Cal might too look like a genius.
Although you may have dreamed of becoming a professional ... If you graduate when you are 18, you will need to wait until you turn 21. ... With no NFL minimum age or NFL age limit in place, players can play as long as they are ... to play for the NFL A player needs to use his college eligibility before the ...
Would revolutionize basketball.

Especially with the one and done in football! Apples or oranges?
We all know it’s different in football. But I think you know that’s not the point. Cal makes it about going pro. He plays them like pro teams. At the cost of losing.
Saban could easily sell Bama as the way to make it pro. Even if it takes two or three years. He never brings it up. Period.

Doesn't have to. Waiting till they're 21 is a very good self motivator.

And Saban has evolved with the game. They were talking about it tonight. Cal won’t do it. He is too proud.
There you have it, winner winner. Saban saying good D will not beat good O anymore. That is a great coach, that is evolving. That is still playing great D holding opponents under 10 since mid year, sometimes you have to turn the talent over get out of way.

5-7 years ago people comparing Cal to Saban, what a joke to Nick and not even close. Recruiting same type. Nick changes and Cal is still dribbling the hell out of ball and micro managing every possession. Sorry Nick to even compare Cal to you. No comparison.

Exactly, and just like in football, offense wins titles in basketball today. The game has changed. The rules in both sports greatly favor great offenses. You need both, but if you can’t consistently put the ball in the basket you get 1-5. I’ve said for several years that Cal refuses to modernize his system from both an offensive and defensive standpoint, but especially on offense. It’s come home to roost.

Saban has evolved with the game, he will jump anyone's *** best player or worst player, he wants his kids to do well, make the NFL yada yada but not at the expense of Alabama being the greatest team and winning college titles. Cal is literally the exact opposite, won't evolve, will only yell at and bench the Baker, Juzang, Allen, etc... of the world and will let his "other stars" make every dumb mistake in the world and know that he won't punish them, and he refuses to use a strategy that puts UK success 1 and personal success for the kids 2.

Yeah, I think the issue is that the kids who are interested in Kentucky consider themselves a failure if they have to stay a second year.
Bingo! It’s because of the way Cal has sold the program. It worked well when we were getting loads of the very best talent, but not so much when we’re not. If he doesn’t make some drastic changes in his recruiting and his offensive mindset, he’ll never sniff another title.

He put a nail in his coffin when he hired that defensive retread Bruiser Flint. I knew that would be a disaster and it has been.

If you don’t think Saban would adapt to any situation as needed you’re out of your mind. Cal isn’t on that level. Never had been. He’s closer to Phil Fulmer.
Saban adapts Call is set in his ways hell or high water. Saban used to be 3 yards and a cloud of dust, now Saban runs a balanced run pass offense. Saban is about winning at all costs, Cal is about draft picks and NBA. Saban changed when he took it on the chin a couple of times with hurry up offences, but Cal refuses to play zone or adapt his philosophy to the strengths of his team.

Alabama reaps the best players from high school, and they don't leave after one year like they do at UK.... Its not the same. But Alabama football has become the standard in college football. We are the One and Done Standard in college basketball.

The nfl requires three years in college before you can go pro.

The nba requires just one year.

A young man grows into his body during those three years. Look at Mashburn his freshman year and then his junior year.

IF we could get kids to stay at least two years that'd be a definite improvement.

Also, look at bama's QB. A 3* recruit who was playing behind 5*s. The kid has his chance this year and is making the most of it. Why? Because he was willing to wait and be part of something great.

What in the world? If Bama players could go after 1 year they’d be leaving just as readily as our guys.

You may be right. However, the difference is, Saban would not be pushing them out the door, and bragging about how many he sent to the NFL. Have you ever heard him bragging about how many he has sent to the NFL? Saban realizes he's paid by Alabama, and works for Alabama football. Cal thinks he is paid by UK, and works for the NBA. Cal does not "Give a Damn," for UK, and despises the fans. He hates being questioned by any UK fan, or a fan disagreeing with him. I really believe that a lot of fans know basketball better then Cal. A good example is when we take the ball out under the basketball under our goal. There is NEVER a play set to run a player off a screen or multiple screens. We throw it into the back-court most of the time. What kind of eeefffing play is that? In high school we had plays to get the person open for a good 10 to 12 foot shot, or a layup. Let's face it, basketball is NOT rocket science.

The vast majority of 19 year olds aren't physically ready for the nfl.

Wow you guys are dense. You took a simple statement and tried to extrapolate some further meaning behind my post. Take it for what it is.

If kids could go to NFL at 19 for a payday then they would. The best players wouldn’t wait.

The vast majority of CBB players aren’t physically or mentally ready for the NBA but yet they go anyway and oblong ball players would do the same thing seeking a paycheck if given a chance. That’s the point, that’s it. Don’t extrapolate a further meaning because there isn’t one.

Saban sucked at Alabama when he first took over. Their record sucked. Cal took us to the top from day one, which looks to be his own worst enemy as we have some clowns that got fat and happy and can't make it through a 1-5 start in a crazy year without soiling themselves.

It’s funny listening to you guys talk about Sabin. For example the hand wringers over mean old Cal yelling at our players, Cal is about a 2. Sabin is about a 15 on a scale of 1 to 10.

Bama football and UK basketball is like comparing apples and oranges to me.

These sports in general are such different animals, even the types of student athletes they get seem very different on average.

I do agree that Saban has been better about changing with the game than Cal has been.
