A quick look at Andrew’s “work” reveals pretty much the same thing. He calls himself a “writer”. Dan Bilzerian is more respectable. Sorry I gave him 4 clicks.

So you're saying Leach and Mullen are similar? I assume you do admit that Mullen is a good coach. Nice contradiction.

Pretty obvious you have no clue what goes into coaching/building a program. If you look at Wazzou's teams under Leach, and you can't see that he was very successful, you're hopeless. There are always ups and downs, you can't just stay at the same level repeatedly.

Let's not pretend WSU was the worst program in the country. Yes, the previous coach was terrible his 1st 3 years, but he was 4-8 the year he was fired; and the previous 3 coaches to him were 125-117-1 over 21 years. It's not a great job by any means, but you can win some there. BTW, I don't disagree Leach was the best coach they ever had.

I started to come argue this but looking at their history, while not good, it's not as bad as I thought.

The coach prior to Leach (Paul Wulff) averaged 2.5 wins over 4 years.
Prior to that, Bill Doba won 10 games after taking over for mike price, and then averaged 5 wins a year over the next five years (5.8 regular season wins per year total).
Prior to that they had Mike Price for 14 years, and he averaged 5.71 regular season wins a year in an up and down tenure that included three 10 win seasons and four 3-win seasons.
Dennis Errickson averaged 5.5 regular season wins over two seasons (but 3, then 8 wins, which got him a new job).
Prior to him, Jim Walden averaged 4.56 wins a season over 9 years.

That gets you back to pre-80's, which is pretty much irrelevant at this point. So definitely not as terrible as I think people believe they were, but still pretty consistently mediocre. They've actually had some good coaches. Jackie Sherril, Dennis Erickson, and Mike Leach. Not sure how to judge Mike Price. He was up and down with some pretty high highs at WSU. THen he was up and down at UTEP with the highs not quite so high, but I think as high as anybody has had anything at UTEP.

Somewhat off topic, but one of the links I clicked on here the other day had a story at the bottom ranking the best football school in each state over the past four full seasons, and Sallee picked Ole Miss. INtro explicitly said that this was not a prediction of the upcoming year.

I get when you don't have talent, it is easier to say stupid things to get clicks. But you'd think at some point nobody would pay attention to him. The school that went 5-7, 6-6, 5-7, 4-8 was apparently better than the school that went 6-7, 9-4, 8-5, 6-7 and also beat them 3-4 times.
