The only reason he brought up Bledsoe is he knew the transcript was leaked. Otherwise, he's trying to argue that "the shoe is on the other foot" except, he knows Bagley's transcript isn't available. It's a weak attempt to deflect from the fact that there's enough smoke around this Bagley clearing but I'm not mad at Duke for playing the game. I think it further shows how incredibly inept and biased the NCAA is to certain programs.

Maybe with this head start they'll be able to get past the first weekend.

True.

But by someone who had never gotten a higher grade than a C in any math class? Really?

Either you just hate once poor blacks or you just like deflecting from the topic at hand. I'm betting your Confederate flag is tattered but you ignore your hatred of minorities if the NCAA pushes them through for Coach K. Let me guess, you're not from NC and picked them as your team because you fell in love with Milquetoast athletes that Duke is typically known for?

Why be coy and secretive about it? Why not just say we're working on it and will reclassify if possible.

Let's get real. This isn't just Duke. There are a LOT of rich and powerful people and organizations that wanted to get this done. The NCAA wanted his star power in a big time NCAA school here and not overseas, Nike wanted their superstar high school player at one of their flagship schools, and the NBA wanted to get him in the league asap.

how often are recruits and their parents up front about everything? If they were there would be a lot less hand wringing from us fans.

Yep, I believe you. You ignored me when I pressed you 5x for Bagley's transcripts so you could continue responding to an old post. Makes sense.

Who is deflecting?

Bledsoe had never had a math grade higher than a C prior to his senior year - yet takes Algebra 3 BEFORE Algebra 2 and gets an A? Nothing fishy about that?

Bagley didn't have academic issues. He had to complete work in time to be reclassified. He did that - at least the NCAA reviewed everything and appeared it. You really think they're deliberately letting Duke slide?

You must never have been to school. It all depends on the teach. In college I got an A+ in sociology. I couldn't tell you the first thing about sociology. Get a student teacher and you probably will get an A. And again getting C's up to that point means nothing especially for a teenager. Maybe he could do the work all along but didn't for whatever reason until he had to. Should also point out that he and his family were homeless at that point of High School. I'm sure that would affect grades. Nobody has ever accused Bledsoe of being dumb. Bad student maybe but that's different.

You people have heard of twitter, right?

Not what it says here.

From the article:

"If you're curious as to how someone could decide to reclassify and make up a year's worth of schoolwork over the course of a 3-4 months, Bagley's father has spoken publicly on a couple of occasions about how his son's path was always going to track this way. The endgame was getting Bagley eligible for the 2018 Draft, college eligibility be damned. But because Duke was in early when it came to recruiting Bagley as a 2017 prospect, the family and Duke worked carefully and quickly in order to get Bagley's coursework finished."

I know that doesn't fit your narrative, but . . .

I just wonder what BBN would be saying had Bagley committed to UK. Perhaps, just perhaps, the kid did the work and his family kept him focused and organized. Regardless, there has not been anything close to the Bledsoe situation and the changing of grades - which is what led to Thamel digging into what has transpired.

Slater and the Duke have this all wrong. UK and Bagley started talking reclassification as early as March. This was not Dukes master plan. As the process wore on our compliance staff informed the family the likelihood of getting him eligible at UK was going to be near impossible. Fast forward we now know the rest of the story. Kid wanted to play for Cal and UK, that's a fact. He's at Duke because he could be eligible and get to league sooner. I'm happy for the kid, he's ready for the league today. As a UK fan I hate that he's at Duke, but it is the best decision for his future. Kid was on UKs campus more than once for unofficials, he wanted to be a cat but the NCAA was never going to let that happen.

If you need more proof of shady **** going on, why is K releasing a statement praising all parties involved with a bunch if CyA bull ****. Where was Duvals release? It really does not matter, it's just a matter of time before Allen screws everything up. Kid is mentally weak and will crack at some point!

Don't forget Mama Bolden, when her boy is riding the pine as January approaches I predict it will not be all rainbows and butterflies in Durham. What about Wendall Carter, the promises made to him have disappeared, he's not going to be happy either. I agree, elite squad no doubt, but K and company have their work cut out for them, we all saw how that worked out last year. Good luck!

Why are you asking us all of this bull **** like Duke doesn't take anyone with questionable grades? You all lowered your academic standards to get in more student athletes, or else you wouldn't be funneling all of these one and dones through your school. You'd have a **** ton of Chris Paulus'.

Strong words from someone who lives in Kentucky. The majority of your backwards fan base has probably never even interacted with black people and only care about them to the extent that they can dribble and/or jump for your basketball team.

Username and post count check out.

But not really. Race card! "You all are hillibiles who don't interact with black people!"

Jesus you're dumb. And racist to boot. It's a freaking basketball message board. The extent you've taken to hurl racial insults and idiotic accusations (creating a fake account which literally takes decent effort because you have to provide a different email , register etc etc... time is invested ) so you did all that to attempt to Lable a group of people who like college basketball / Kentucky basketball as extreme , nazi esque racists.

Bravo sir. You've now sullied the Duke fan base even more. I'm sure you're probably a Rogue kind of dude... but kidding, trolling, message board politics aside .... you're clearly a pathetic insufferable douche bag in real life.

Enjoy your stay at Rafters!

There is not a bigger hypocrite in sports than the one in Durham. His sickening whining and griping on the sidelines is only surpassed by his self important arrogance as if he invented the game and everyone should acknowledge his greatness.
They cooked the books for this kid. The NCAA is even more gutless and spineless than K.
I have zero respect for him and anyone who gives him any form of praise or credit. They are a despicable bunch.

Bledsoe's four-year transcript shows he made an A in Algebra 3 in night school as a senior by receiving a 90 during each of the two sessions. However, a grade report from those night sessions showed Bledsoe was recorded as making a C average, with a low C recorded in the first session and a low B recorded in the second.

By receiving an A in Algebra 3, Bledsoe barely qualified for initial eligibility in college, based on the standardized test score his former coach said Bledsoe made.

http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2010/09/records_differed_on_bledsoes_p.html

When Bledsoe's transcript was legitimately called into question, Rupps Rafters kept calling it a hit piece by Thamel, Forde, etc. Rupps Rafters swore there were no issues with Bledsoe.

Now that Bagley reclassifies....and the shoe is on the other foot....this board seems to be singing a different tune.
You're just willingly ignorant. Just another K dangler who has never had an original thought. You probably believe this kid is academically eligible. You folks like to pretend you're superior but it's all a facade just like your hypocrite coach. I have more respect for used car salesman and politicians.

What's funny is all of the Bagley outrage is truly "faux" outrage because nobody has any legitimate reason to call this shady other than "He only decided to reclassify a few months ago! Therefore this is shady!" lol
The facade was that duke had high academic standards to begin with. They didn't. The media created this huge lie. It is extremely shady. But Hypocrisy is so high in Durham that they actually believe their own lies.

I'm pretty embarrassed by several of the "Duke" posters in this thread. I really hope they didn't actually attend Duke.

And I'm always impressed with how lenient this board is towards idiots spewing nonsense. It's about as hard to get banned here as it is to not get banned on UNC's site.

Not every Duke alum is comfortable with Duval and now Bagley. It has a win-at-all costs feel to it and I don't dig it.

Because the guy went to 3 separate HS means he's not a capable student?
Yeah, duke and K care if he's a capable student. Since when does high and mighty duke accept capable students? I have no idea if h is or not. I highly doubt he has done anough work in 3 years at 3 schools while doing all of the AAU traveling and everything else they do. It's a joke and everybody knows it.

The BS is in making blind assumptions.

You really think Bagley / Duke is trying to pull a fast one and the NCAA is allowing it? Really?
You really think they're not. No you don't but you don't care because he chose duke. Had he picked UK, you and all the Dungeons and Dragons group would have had a crying fest. ESPN would have hired a special investigator. You fake fans crack me up.

Dude wtf ever. Just admit it. It's questionable. You vilified Cal and Accused UK of cheating. Paying players etc over the last several years when we were the only school taking multiple one and dones.
Now all of a sudden y'all are ok with it. Really? Graduates in 3 years, 3 different high schools and travels the country playing basketball. But hee graduated in 3 years? Ok lol. Not
Only that , but apparently they upped and decided to go ahead and "start the process of reclassifying (GRADUATING EARLY) " and all was peachy keen in like 2 months?? Lol how convenient. And Duke and bagley admit they helped him all along

You're not that stupid. If the same exact event had played out here at UK id 100% admit "ehhh something kinda sketchy went on"

At last own it and don't be a little biotch. You just look ridiculous.

"According to sources, Hillcrest Hoops may be in danger of losing its potential NCAA accreditation before the program has a chance to get off the ground."

"Multiple sources confirmed that employees of the NCAA Eligibility Center paid an unannounced visit to the Starshine Academy campus on 3535 E McDowell Road in Phoenix on Monday. The visit came amid concerns that Hillcrest, the national powerhouse basketball program put together by one-time Westwind Prep Athletic Director Matt Allen and Westwind Prep Head Coach Nick Weaver, was not on track to meet the requirements that it would take to receive NCAA eligibility."

"One source stated that when members of the NCAA's Eligibility Center interviewed Starshine Academy administrators and faculty, they were told that many players on Hillcrest's high school and post-grad basketball teams had been seen on campus as little as a single occurrence in the first 49 days of school. "Most of the teachers could not identify any of the basketball players," said one source, on condition of anonymity."

"While an explanation for the absences from in-person instruction could be explained by many of Hillcrest's basketball players enrolling in online versions of their courses, Arizona law requires that students in charter schools meet a prerequisite amount of "seat time," as district funding is, in part, determined by the amount of time a student is physically on campus."

"One source familiar with the NCAA's visit to Starshine stated that certain players' course schedules were given to the Eligibility Center employees, who visited each class at the stated time those athletes were supposed to be in attendance, and not only could faculty members not account for the whereabouts of the student, some did not recall having that student in class at all."

"Apart from its partnership with Hillcrest, Starshine Academy has struggled to meet the state of Arizona's standards for alternative schools, receiving a "D" grade for the 2013-14 school year, and graduating 31% of its students within four years of their 9th grade enrollment- well below the state's average of 75%."

"Hillcrest Hoops' roster has been constructed from a glut of nationwide talent, including Rivals' #1 player from the class of 2018, Marvin Bagley III."

Who cares. Let him play. They aren't even the best team in the ACC with Bagley. On top of that there is a player in Arizona(of course Duke will be put on the on other side) who happens to actually be as good or better of a player. There's also a much deeper team in Lexington who will be no pushover if the two face each other.

Too bad the season is still a couple months away. Lots of great matchups coming up this year.

He went to a pretend school for a year and then reclassified, finished his senior year, graduated, and was admitted to Duke and cleared all within a month starting in effing August.

You guys play by our own rules, fine, whatever. But you can eat my *** if you won't at least acknowledge it or see where rational people with eyes and a brain are coming from.

Nice find. This was a done deal all constructed by duke and the NCAA. He was eligible as soon as he committed to them. This was all about the next NBA draft. The hypocrisy on this one breaks the needle.
I am so sick of the bashing Cal and UK get but these phonies get folks like the insufferable Bilas and Vitale to pump smoke about academics and doing things the right way. Vomit inducing.
I despise liars and hypocrites and duke is engulfed with them. They are loathsome.
