I don't understand fans that say they don't want to be number one, I mean so what if they play under pressure now? Isn't like a loss is going to hurt them now I rather they play under pressure to better prepare for the NCAA tournament when the real pressure starts up.

Watching UNI they have the ingredients to be a GREAT team. They have nice 3 point shooting from all over the floor. They also have a really good PG Washpun, won't be surprised if they go pretty far in tourney...

I wont give you grief I'd just like to know what the ideal ranking is for a Calipari UK team, seeing as how they are usually going to be young with the kind of turnover we have ?

Keep in mind that, assuming my figures are correct, we are 63-5 under Cal as the #1 ranked team

The situation being what it is, that's what it would take to keep us from being ranked number one

Anywhere from #2-#10....we typically play a challenging enough non-conference that if we stay in that range we have a great chance at a number #1 or #2 seed which is really what it's all about. Being #1 gets you nothing other than making your opponent play even harder and more inspired against you. Also it means a lot to me to be the winningest college program of all time and I want to extend our lead over Kansas as much as possible. Playing with extra pressure with a young inexperienced team is a recipe for dropping an extra game or two that we should win and therefore further extend our lead over North Carolina and Kansas.

Nice week. We whip Duke, Wisky goes down by an unranked team, UNC does the same. What will the top five look like? (keeping in mind, they will probably move Duke up four sports for losing to us and then winning their next game because as ESPN says, their PG had an "off" night against us.)

It's also good for recruiting in my opinion. HS recruits that constantly see UK as the #1 team have got to aspire to play at and with the best.

Paige is absolutely made of glass. Two months from now he'll get turf toe or something and be hobbled for the season. He's the college version of Derrick Rose.

there's lots of angles to look at this from. I could make the case that rankings, later in the season, will be reflective of how teams have performed. Therefore if a team as talented UK was ranked worse than #3-4 it would mean that we had ALREADY lost a game or two.... or three, which blows the theory about winning more games (which I care about just as you do)

Like I said we are 63-5 under Cal as #1 team. Two of those losses were in the postseason (Vandy and Wisc) at time when we all agree that being a one-seed is beneficial. Another of those losses was to Mich St. in the champions classic against an Izzo team that would have played just as hard against us regardless of ranking.

So IMO that leaves just two losses (@IU and USC) where the other team possibly played above their heads because of our #1 ranking.

UNC is a joke. The fact that they can even be in the tournament this year shows what a joke the NCAA is today.

Academic fraud to being frauds on the court is not surprising.

Roy Williams is a terrible coach. By far the worst coach at a top program. If UNC gets past NCAA investigation and would hire someone like Sean Miller they could right back up with UK and Duke as a top program.

We need to be number 1 for as many weeks as possible in order to get that record. We're only 4 weeks away from dUKe and about 12-15 away from UCLA. It's right there for the taking...
