I think that the B1G presidents like to think they are academically superior to the other P5 conferences. For them to be duped by a bogus report on cardiac issues caused by Covid is delicious.

Buncha dolts.

Look at the scandals that have been held down and attempted to be covered up by the B1G schools of “importance.” The ego and self importance clearly show the self bloated elite status thinking.

The Big Ten and Pac-12 definitely suffer from an ivory tower complex.

Since 1998,(22 years) the big Ten has won 2 national championships, all by the same school. (Michigan split in 97) and not counted. I remember people creaming their pants when we joined. How about now? It is a weak conference. It always has been a slow, weak conference and now they are above everyone. How about Nebraska wins and shuts people up. Until then, no one really cares.

True. However they also suffer from left-wing complex and that is why we are not playing. And I am not a huge Trump supporter, but come on. It doesn't take a genius to figure this one out.

This post pretty much sums up America... great one liner, I’ll find it useful in so many ways! Well, the world needs ditch diggers too.

Yes, it's certainly true that there is an academic snobbishness about the B1G. But it has its plus and minus points. It's also not all bad to be in a conference recognized for academic excellence and one that gets a lot of research dollars sent its way. You have to take the bad with the good.

The only way iowa is leaving is if they get kicked out, which isn't happening. The big 10 has what every school wants, money and stability. Commishoner needs to go. Not iowa or Nebraska.

I dislike some things about the conference but I also remember the days of pay per view and not being able to see some games on tv.

Not this year, but Nebraska and Iowa will leave the BIG in the next 5 years. Bookmarking this post.
They won't leave BUT there is a chance that the B1G eventually merges with other P5 conferences to create a super conference with several divisions at some point in the future. Kind of like the college version of the NFL. Not happening any time soon but could at some point when media rights come up for renewal. IF that ever happens, it will be driven for money reasons.

Wow calling the BIG a weak conference and Nebraska being a lower tier member of that conference is really a blow to Husker athletics. It's time to move on from the season being cancelled. We can't do anything about it. We just need to move forward with what can be controlled by Nebraska. Recruit, coach and we as fans look to the future. No need to waist energy looking in the rear view mirror.

Outside of OSU what has the B1G done? In 30 years they have 2 NC all OSU. OSU can be arrogant, no one else

As the OP, THANK YOU!
To be fair, to put Nebraska "in it's place" they were pointing out Nebraska's irrelevance in sports rather than academics. That's how we got to a point in which we're telling northwestern fans to stfu

Kevin Warren is a clueless, incompetent fool that simply doesn’t get its constituency! Anyway you cut, what a PR cluster for the conference and it’s members. What a fart! Why commit suicide now when you can always do it next month?!!! This is what happens when you bring outsiders that don’t get the BIG10! Wilbon can go jump off a cliff, what a clueless pompous ***!! Sheesh! Desmond Coward has NOT rendered a single coherent, valid, and articulate opinion in his entire career! How he has a job shows the competence of his network. Enough said.

My post had nothing to do with that either. I was just noting that all these presidents who think they are so smart made a monumentally stupid decision based on really bad data. Not to mention that if they look at the number of covid deaths in the population of 0-24 year olds only being .00028%. They've made a decision that is anything but scientific and rational.

I think in the next few years college football and basketball will go semi pro with players getting played. This will be the end of conferences and the NCAA. I see that happening sooner than conference realignment.

Buncha dolts.

Higher education quit being about imparting knowledge and preparing young men and women for future careers a long time ago and took up the cause of indoctrination. Most money is made in research grants, which come from government. When the hogs line up at the government trough, they tow the party line.

It’s embarrassing how literally dumb most ‘educated’ people are

While higher education did right by me career-wise (engineering), two of the most useful lessons I learned in college were there is no worse snob than an academic snob and there is no worse bully than an academic bully. Useful lessons because in the real world those types are easily taken advantage of.
