I would take Wisconsin to win it right now. Iowa may be tough, but the Badgers seem to have their number like Iowa has ours.

These posts are all correct unless somehow Nebraska turns a corner and starts living up to their pre-season hype. Possible, especially with this coaching staff. Likely? I'd give it a 50% chance at best.

Remember too that Wisconsin has a way, way shittier schedule than we do. they place Michigan, Michigan State, Northwestern, Ohio State, and Iowa before they even get to us.

To be clear, I'm not saying we in any way have any right to dream big. I don't trust this team to tell me the f-ing time right now.

I am saying, however, that our biggest divisional rivals have far worse schedules than we do this year and you could see them having 2-3 losses each by the end of it all. If not more.

Let's wait and see how this plays out. Wisconsin has looked good so far, but there is a lot of season left.

I’ll say Iowa vs Oh St. Wis may best Iowa but their schedule is brutal & I think Iowa sneaks in.

Iowa upsets Oh St to win B1G.

And then gets their *** handed to them by a Pac-12 team again?? Oh, I love when history resembles itself...

There's still a lot of time. Northwestern won the West last season after starting 0-3.

Don't lose hope in our guys yet!

Don't lose hope in our guys yet!
Interesting note: Northwestern led Akron 21-3 at halftime in Evanston last year, but blew the lead in the second half, losing 39-34.

Overall, Northwestern outscored all of its opponents by four points in the 13 regular-season games last year (conference title game included), 0.3 point per game difference.

So how did they win the West? They won a bunch of close games, and they beat the teams in the West. They were also 5-2 in one-score games, including these victories:
  • Northwestern 31, Purdue 27
  • Northwestern 34, Nebraska 31 (OT)
  • Northwestern 18, Rutgers 15
  • Northwestern 14, Iowa 10
  • Northwestern 24, Illinois 16
It's a long-shot, for sure, but any team in the West, given the fortitude and an occasional fortuitous bounce, can do the same thing the 'Cats did last year.

The question is "Do the Huskers have that fortitude?" Goodness knows we're due a few fortuitous bounces.

Through two games:

Wisconsin is giving up only 108 yards per game on defense, Iowa 185 ypg.

In order to compete with the big dogs in this division, Nebraska must get better in the trenches. Wisconsin and Iowa will dent our foreheads after they mushroom stamp them continually for all 60 mins of football the way we're playing right now. #hairynutsonforehead

Why pretend to be a husker fan? That’s worse than openly showing yourself to be an Iowa fan.

Account created today, love for Iowa and Wisconsin in this thread... not fooling anybody.

Will anyone stand in the way of Wisconsin or Iowa? How about the East. OSU the team to beat?

Iowa??? The West is Wisconsin’s as of now. But to answer your question...the way it looks as of now, no one in the West is stopping the Badgers. End of story.

Yet Martinez and Washington both torched Iowa last year. Iowa won’t have an answer for Maurice Washington and I really hope we add JD Speilman and Wan’dale Robinson into this mix this years match. Iowa game will be a tough one but it’s not like your implying. The West is Wisconsin’s ONLY. Iowa will get absolutely biotch slapped by Wisconsin when they play.

Injuries can happen.
In the East, Maryland looks interesting so far.

South Florida - 0-2 (Currently Last Nationally in Total Offense - Dominated in other game by Georgia Tech.

Central Michigan - 0-11 vs FBS teams in 2018

Miami, OH - 1-5 vs winning teams in 2018 - Started a True Freshman vs. Iowa.

Rutgers - Its Rutgers

Howard - 3 win FCS team from 2018 - Went to Youngstown State and fave up 60 points a week after 70 to Maryland.

Syracuse - outgained by Liberty in their season opener.

I realize everyone wants to crown these programs. And they are definitely winning in impressive fashion. But Wisconsin has potentially faced the two worst offenses in college football right now.

Iowa beat a future 4 or 5 win MAC team with a true freshman starting his first college game, and effing Rutgers.

Maryland literally played the WORST NON CON opponent for the Big Ten and a Syracuse team that was so overrated they won't even make a bowl game.

Let's pump the motherfricken brakes.

We'll know more after Michigan goes to Madison next week. Both teams have this week off.

Crossover games:
  • Wisconsin: Michigan, Michigan State, and at Ohio State.
  • Iowa: Rutgers (W), Michigan, and at Penn State.
  • Minnesota: at Rutgers, Maryland, Penn State.
  • NU has Ohio State, Indiana, at Maryland

While I support the overall tenor and tone of this post, Syracuse outgained Liberty 368-234 in SU's opener, and Howard gave up 54 to Youngstown.

Ha I'm dyslexic apparently on the SU game.

Your offense solely misses Ozigbo and Morgan, Iowa will completely shut Washington down. Martinez will be under fire all day again from Epenesa. Wisconsin is barely above .500 all time against Iowa. Iowa has more speed and weapons on offense than in previous years.

I didn’t realize we could reference all time series… I thought you Iowa fans called that living in the past. But since you do that with Wisconsin, I guess Nebraska having 12 more victories than Iowa out of 46 or so contests is pretty meaningful. Using your logic, we should be fine against Iowa, am I right?

I see 1-2 for all 4 teams, maybe I'm surprised but let's be honest, if you were forced to bet the house on all of these games AS OF TODAY, its projected at 1-3 for all of them. Maryland may get worse, and injuries happen. Maybe the huskers stay healthy and get confident as others begin to doubt, but like I said as of today its 1-3.

You totally ignored the “meat & potatoes” of my post and comment on the gravy, that pretty much comes across as you agree on my assessment of Iowa vs Nebraska come game time.

CONFIDENCE! This is why we need to schedule the way these teams are. Last year we saw it, the team lacked confidence early in the season. Schedule the easiest win or two, build confidence, put it all in film and make other coaches/teams worry and think when you line up.
Maybe I'm wrong here but let's watch the season and see. I do know that Maryland has been historically bad minus a few Friedgen (sp?) years, so we will see how this builds in their next few games.
Minnesota has had struggles but has found ways to win with a few elite players. Again time will tell but I would think they are gaining confidence and we are not.

Actually, you have no clue what you’re talking about… Iowa fan has told Nebraska fan repeatedly not to live in the past, and yet that’s exactly what you are doing. It doesn’t surprise me that you don’t get it. You’re recent history against wisconsin isn’t better than Nebraska’s recent history with Iowa.

So if you get to throw out recent history, so do we. Understand?

So what does Wisconsins all time record against Iowa have to do with anything?
