I honestly don't think so. If UM-OSU gets cancelled, I think the conference is more likely to cancel another game, such as Maryland-Rutgers, to give OSU an opponent, rather than change the eligibility rules.

(Also if Wisconsin loses today we clinch even if they do change the rules.)

What are they going to use?

Total wins and West wins. Right now Wisconsin has ONE win in the West. If they win next week they will have 2 West and 4 total.
Even if we lose next week we would have 4 West wins and 5 total. And head to head against both Wisconsin and Iowa.

The B1G botched this from the beginning. I don't think there's any doubt that OSU is the best team - they beat Indiana head to head but yet could go undefeated and watch Indiana play in the B1G championship game ? They (B1G) should have started their season when everyone else did and have some schedule flexibility - all of the medical experts and science predicted it would get worse later in the season. OSU can get invited to the playoffs - they're the only B1G team. What a bunch of dumbasses.

If OSU plays at all they qualify for the Big Ten championship game.

If they don't play they don't qualify under the current rules. Unless the Big Ten modifies the rule to allow OSU to play in the championship game. The Big Ten has every financial incentive to do so and can easily rationalize why it was changed.

I suspect, fellas, that "Big Ten West Champions" won't be an uncommon descriptor for our teams in Evanston over the coming years. And appearances in the back half of our division will be more the exception than the norm. And taken as a whole, I'm comfortable saying that our cumulative outlook in the revenue sports has never been better than it is right now. Not in any of our lifetimes, anyway. These are terrific days to be a fan of the "Cats. And for those of us who've paid multiple decades' worth of dues, things are steadily taking an especially sweet (and pretty likely, sustained) turn.

I lost track of which came first, the official announcement or Wisconsin’s loss. I think it was the former though since I recall changing my rooting preference as I watched Wisconsin play. With the official announcement meaning that Wisky no longer threatened under some rule change I was willing to have them win to aid our SOS.

Yeah, all they have to do is give a mulligan to OSU for the one game they missed because of another team’s COVID issues. That would have been harder to rationalize If they had not played today.
