Does anyone know what the B1G is intending with these doubleheaders? Will they, over time, schedule each member to be the "home" team there? I can't recall when this started, but RU hosted Wisconsin there two or three years ago and is scheduled to host MSU there next year.

So based upon that, it seems as though RU will host more Super Saturdays than other schools. IMHO, a better deal would be for RU to graciously volunteer to be the visiting team 13 years out of 14, while hosting in the 14th year. That would shore up attendance for the event, as it appears to be doing this year. It's just one more service that RU could perform for the B1G.

It alternates. Michigan was the away team first time (2014), now they are home. We were home team first time, now we are away. Next time we’ll be home. Etc.

As for the teams that get selected, the first two years it was a hit with PSU and Mich in the first one, RU Wisc and OSU the second one (we don’t have hockey). After realizing with only 6 hockey schools it didn’t make sense to do that anymore, I think adding wrestling instead will be hugely successful for the conference.

The thought, similar to having the Pinstripe Bowl as a tie-in, was that it would give the chance for the many B1G alumni in NYC/the region a chance to see their teams play. However, the B1G probably didn’t make as much money as they expected in exposure/etc with the recent matchups ... Illinois-Minnesota last year drew only 4,000. That’s probably the reason they signed RU up for not just this year but the next 2. I would have no problem with an annual game there, there’s nothing like a winter trek to MSG in the city it just feels like basketball to me. And it’s great exposure for RU and further stamps our ownership of the NYC market as hopefully casual fans stick with us once CFB comes around and maybe check out a game since were the only FBS and biggest overall school close to NYC

Said something similar the other day... when we're good we'll outdraw everyone by a decent margin which is good for the B1G, msg, and RU of course.

One of the most thought out posts on the board. Prob should save this one for whenever this is asked.

I'd add that the history of the event is recorded on Wikipedia.

I would suspect the rest of the league teams would not want RU to have an away game there 13 out of 14 years. Sure, great for us but unfair overall

Record attendance for any of these events is for a hockey game between Michigan and Penn State, attendance 13,479. I'd think that will be easily topped today.

After years of getting screwed by the Big Ten, schedule-wise, as a bottom feeder for years, I am looking forward to all the complaining the other teams will do if we gain some advantage by playing there every couple of years.

If we get to the point where the Big Ten is confident that our basketball team alone can bring a large crowd, I would like to see them schedule the Rutgers Hockey team against a club team from another Big Ten school.

this ain’t ever happening... club hockey won’t draw tix sales. I’d rather see Rutgers find a big Donor to fund D1 Men’s and Women’s Hockey. Hockey is a huge part of the B1G and Hockey is huge in NJ/NY/PA

Someone pointed out that sometimes this MSG game will be OUR home game. its a Big Ten office thing... it is not like Michigan asked for this.

and its an advantage like this that negate the talk that the Big 10 is screwing RU by making them play games with less rest than some other schools
